Just had a girl with 102 temp crying because she wanted to stay in school. She has midterm review today and a basketball game tomorrow.
She was in earlier, afebrile, now with shaking chills. I'm suspecting flu.
A nice, sweet involved kid who never comes in. Parents are a pleasure.
Put your GOOD stories and Good kids right here.
I have a 5th grader that eats lunch on my office and always brings a friend. Last week I overheard them talking about another 5th grader with a "difficult" personality(and an extremely difficult home situation)
5th grader 1- "She can be so annoying! She just yells random stuff and has to be the center of attention"
5th #2-"I know! She's kind of the worst, but remember what the guidance counselor told us, you never know what's going on in someone else's life, so we should just try to be nice to her because it's the right thing to do"
5th #1- "You're right, we don't have to be best friends with her, but I need to remember to be nice"
Then they talked about pokemon. Best convo ever
I'm so proud of one of my kiddos. Same kid I've mentioned before who came to see me like 80 times her freshman year. She's a senior now (19 years old) and has this weird lump on her earlobe- almost like an abscess. I told her yesterday to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to talk to mom about going to the doctor (forgetting she was 19 at that time). She came in earlier and it is a little worse today, and spreading to just below her ear. She called and made a doctor's appointment all by herself to get this looked at. And they got her in this afternoon!!! She came down to my office to tell me. I said "Look at you! Adulting!!!"
She's gonna check in with me tomorrow and let me know what they say.

I had a lot of kids like this Friday, they had fevers but they didn't want to leave because we had Mock STAAR testing this week and they didn't want to miss anything.
