Just had a girl with 102 temp crying because she wanted to stay in school. She has midterm review today and a basketball game tomorrow.

She was in earlier, afebrile, now with shaking chills. I'm suspecting flu.

A nice, sweet involved kid who never comes in. Parents are a pleasure.

Put your GOOD stories and Good kids right here.

Just had a newly diagnosed diabetic come in this morning with his dad. He had the orders from doctor, stayed to signed paperwork, kid already proficient with checking, carb counting and administering, and comes to the office on time. Good kid, good parent! Yeah!

I have a sister and brother (6th & 8th grade) who are the kindest kids on the planet. Well mannered, good students, and everyone loves them. They are always with the "yes m'aam's" here in the clinic.

Last Friday evening he broke his ulna & radius pretty traumatically at basketball practice. My daughter was on campus as were many students for a late musical rehearsal. She said the entire boy's basketball team was in tears...I think it was somewhat heartbreaking to see it happen to an upperclassmen guy whom they admired so much.

We woke up the next morning to about 20 instagram videos in his honor as if he'd died or been diagnosed with cancer. I have to admit we were kinda cracking up over the dramatics of it all but I was also touched by how much everyone just loves this kid! I was kinda happy to know that the kids recognize what an admirable, good kid he is and not just us staff/faculty peeps.

Thanks! I have been lurking for a while. There is some great advice on here and some great nurses.

I had a student who puked (yes, there was evidence - an actual trail of vomit) and their first words to me were, 'I will help the janitor clean it up!'

Had a student that was always in the office for not doing work, distracting others, general misbehavior a few years ago. Now in 5th grade and is a student helper and roll model. So proud of him to be able to turn it around so quickly. When he swings by the office we always say how proud we are of him.

I have a student that came to us a year ago in a wheelchair (CP). She progressed to a walker and in the last couple months has been leaving that walker and walking away from it! Yesterday an entire grade, not hers, witnessed her walk out of the office and out the front door with her dad with NO WALKER and no help from her dad! I cried in front of that class when they cheered for her!! I'm so proud of these kids!

Had a parent (a teacher in a different district) call me last week because she noticed her child has been down to see me a few times since break. She wanted to make sure I didn't think it was anything serious. If only the parents of my FFs were that receptive!

Today is my birthday and a daily med taker noticed the balloon on my doorknob and asked me how old I am turning. I asked "How old do you think I am?"

His response? "You look about 18."
