I am trying to feel out if anyone else has declined the Covid vaccine and feeling backlash or tension with other co-workers? I have never heard so much discussion regarding nurse receiving or declining a vaccine in the 12 years I've been a nurse. Not sure why it should even matter but, I am getting a lot of pressure about it. I do not see why I am "crazy " if I made the decision against receiving the vaccine. I also do not understand co-workers pushing the vaccine on me and others, or insisting we are out of our minds. This is coming from management level as well as staff nurses. I am just appalled at the treatment and many of us who have declined the vaccine have kept to ourselves. For me, personally, I made the choice not to get it and I was done at that. It's been a month into our hospital vaccines and people will not just shut up about it.
Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?
How are you handing this?
Please mind the poor spelling and grammar ?

You keep saying this^^ all it does is shows you don't understand how vaccines work!
Vaccines work by training and preparing the body’s natural defences – the immune system – to recognize and fight off viruses and bacteria. If the body is exposed to those disease-causing pathogens later, it will be ready to destroy them quickly – which prevents illness.
When a person gets vaccinated against a disease, their risk of infection is also reduced – so they’re also less likely to transmit the virus or bacteria to others. As more people in a community get vaccinated, fewer people remain vulnerable, and there is less possibility for an infected person to pass the pathogen on to another person. Lowering the possibility for a pathogen to circulate in the community protects those who cannot be vaccinated (due to health conditions, like allergies, or their age) from the disease targeted by the vaccine.
There now, do you want it any simpler? I don't think I can.

Now that I agree with. Add in the UK as well.

There's no money to be made on promoting health. We live in a capitalist country where profit is king. Most of our leaders care more about staying in power than improving the lives of the people who elect them. And any move toward improving health is decried as socialism/communism/marxism.

The CDC says to wear a mask because you can still spread the virus after getting the vaccine.
This whole argument is like my husband who wants to know how to 'KILL" the virus and my son answering "Well dad technically it's not alive so what the vaccine does is help the body fight it off."
If every person who can be vaccinated is vaccinated then a large part of the population will achieve herd immunity. I am no expert on infectious disease or vaccines but it makes since that if a large part of the population achieves the ability to fight the disease when it's transmitted to them it won't matter if it can still be transmitted.

Oh and did you see the story today of a woman in London who learned on Whatsap that drinking your own urine would prevent you from catching the virus. She did this and had her childrendo it because "She didn't trust the vaccine and wanted to try a more natural method."
I swear you make this stuff up.

Was it this vintage??????
32 minutes ago, hppygr8ful said:I don't know about the vintage but I do know that in certain survival situations you can drink your own urine which is sterile when it leaves the body, I think I would have to be literally dying before I would try it!
I really meant that Trump wines must taste like piss????

The CDC says to wear a mask because you can still spread the virus after getting the vaccine.
This is because if you're exposed to others capable of a high viral load (they are unvaccinated) then your respiratory tract can be a surface vector; you can inhale a sufficient quantity of virus that you can then later expel sufficient virus to potentially trigger an infection in a close contact. This is why a large portion of people need to be vaccinated before we can back off on mitigation measures.

No, not a covid denier. If you believe the vaccine prevents transmission, show me the data. Maybe I’ve missed it. If it prevents transmission I would get the vaccine.
Those at high risk for severe infection from Covid should receive the vaccine.
I think the real question that needs to be asked from this crisis is how did our leaders in government and healthcare let Americans become as sick as they are today. We have the sickest population on earth. Shouldn’t we focus on improving that?
