Did You Guys Pay Too Much Tuition Too?

Hello All!

I will be starting my hospital based CNA course which lasts 2 months before I jump into LVN training (15 months) and it will be costing me a whopping $32,000! I read on other ppls posts that even $15,000 was mind blowing! Could this be so? HELP!:uhoh21::uhoh21::uhoh21::uhoh21:

Holy moly! I am in an RN program and that is costing me about 12,000!

That's astonishing! My CC RN program is less than $10,000.

A local private LPN schoolsl here are running close to $30,000. VERY expensive! The State run LPN schools are around $6,000 BUT they have long waiting lists. To some (me included) the end justifies the means..meaning, I am willing to shell that money out to get into school ASAP with no waiting list, no major test to take, close to home, great NCLEX pass rate (100%) and be done with the schooling, sitting for my boards and passing to then work as a licensed PN. While, those who can't or won't pay the $30K wait and wait and wait just to get in while I am already working.

It is crazy to think that that the class is that expensive but if you think about it, at $30K, with 2500 clinical and classroom insturctional hours its only $12.50 an hour. Of course when you take $30K X 40 students thats one MILLION two hundred thousand dollars!!

OH MY!!!!! My RN education cost less than half of that!!!!!

My community college ADN program was like 3500. I met an LVN at a NCLEX review course the other day that paid 50,000 in LA......for her LVN. Wow. Sounds like community college is the way to go if you ask me.

My University BSN program (which you don't enter til your Junior year) charges regular tuition +$800 Nursing tuition differential which works out to be $3923 per semester which is $15,692 for the 2 years to complete the BSN... I don't think that's too bad...

To the OP, is LVN your only option? It seems like for that much money you should at least get a higher degree/better paying job at the end of it. My mother always told me never to borrow more for an education than you will make your first year on the job. If you're borrowing $30K plus living expenses, that just seems like way too much.

oh my

I graduated last year from a PN program here in Columbus, Oh, and my total student loans are only $8,000.00 (and that was taking out extra money per quarter too, to pay for books, uniforms, etc)

The program was only 7 quarters, no waiting list, and currently no waiting list, classes starting twice per year

just fyi

I agree with the others at how outrageous that cost is! I too am going for a university BSN and the last two years-- the actual nursing portion of the education (not taking into account the first two years of pre-reqs and general college ed)-- is fairly equivalent to what destined2bCRNA reported for her BSN cost... ~$16K.

It just depends where you attend. I'm sure community colleges are inexpensive compared to universities, both public and private. In Chicago, Rush and Loyola for their accelerated 1 year BSN program costs 30K, whereas UIC should cost about 16K for their 2 year BSN programs.

For LPN programs, I couldnt imagine why it would cost 32K.

My 4 semester BSN program at a local private university will cost me $14,400/SEMESTER...just for the tuition. Parking will cost over $400/YEAR, Books...well you know how books go but they say about $1400 for the 1st Semester...about $1300 each subsequent semester. Then we have uniforms, supplies, travel expenses...blah blah blah. I think I just talked myself out of school :lol2:
