  1. I thought that by May 2010 we need 20 CEU hours????? (in order to renew our license, for those that have to renew this may!!!)
  2. Well i graduated from Loyola's ABSN in 2008, and we didn't have an interview prior to admission, BUT a lot has changed with the policies and administration so like the above post, it is best to call the Nursing School Office.
  3. Mt Sinai is definitely hiring, especially for Medical-Surgical.
  4. I agree...life is too short to be this stressed...started first RN hospital job in Jan and now thinking about quitting to go to a less stressed environment...I do not think hospital nursing is right for me...AT ALL..
  5. I am in a similar situation.I took a FT job at a med surg floor to get hospital experience. It's only been 4 months and I am miserable, I cry all the time, but especially during the days that I have work. I work nights which I like. My problem is that our floor, which is mostly medical, the acuity is always so high and most of our pts are complete patients. It is a 6:1 ratio on average. I've been soooo depressed, and I am trying to stick it out so i can get that 1 year exp but I am not sure how much longer I can go. I feel my health is deteriorating exponentially. I know I should secure another job before I quit this one but I am thinking that I should put my happiness and health first before staying at a job that I hate.......when I talk to experienced nurses they all tell me that a new grad doesn't "feel comfortable" in the nursing role until more than a year on the floor...but is the way I'm feeling normal?? I don't think it is.....
  6. I'm a new grad, and will be at my three month mark at my first hospital RN job. I will be on my own next week!!! I already know that I don't really like bedside nursing, but most RN jobs prefer RN's with some hospital experience so I am going to try to stick it out for at least a year. :) Experience nurses keep telling me that it will take at least 1-2 years before fully becoming comfortable working (bed side nursing).....The stresses from our job is really draining to our own health, yet we are trying to improve the health of our patient!!! I don't feel that I am emotionally involved at work, but just the environment overall tends to be chaotic, with our high acuity patients, and heavy patient load, therefore causing negativity amongst the staff including CNAs, LPNs, and RNs. I have fellow new grad nurses that I can talk about the stresses, and see also that they are feeling similar things. Good luck to you in whatever you decide to pursue!
  7. Thanks everyone!!
  8. Hello everyone, So like I said...I reallly didn't think I would get any sleep. I was watching tv late last night to make myself tired, and then I even woke up early. I knew I could get my result at 8AM but at 8 AM I was kinda afraid to check my result, so I walked my dog for 20 minutes. Then I went to my computer, and of course, surfed the web to pass the time. I was still afraid to check. Then I went to get my credit card....I waited a little bit some more. Finally I went on the website to pay for my quick result. As I was typing in the numbers, my hands were literally shaking and my heart was beating so fast. I clicked on the next button AND.............. Said those words I've been praying for PASSED. Thanks everyone for your kind words. If I can succeed on the NCLEX, so can you. It doesn't matter if it is your first time or your nth time taking it. :prdnrs:
  9. I'm feeling very anxious right now....Don't know how I'm gonna get any sleep waiting for tomorrow. I'm trying to think POSITIVE thoughts right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I had the 4th edition. No i didn't read the entire book. I just used it mostly as a source if I needed more information from my review class. The questions are nice because of the rationalization only.
  11. Thanks for your suggestion. I took a review class, read my saunders book, and reviewed my old notes from school.
  12. Thank you for your prayers!! Yes, from the beginning before I took the test I told myself to take my time, and that I would NOT look up the answers when I got home. So I didn't. But I was still worried. For now, I'm trying to relax, and patiently wait.
  13. Hello, This is my first time taking the NCLEX. I only had 75 questions. I was sooooo anxious prior to the test that I was doing breathing exercises to help me relax. I'm sooo worried about what the outcome may be. I studied SOOO HARD. I know that I answered questions right, but there were also some that i was unsure about. I pretty much always narrowed down to two possible ones. I am sooo frustrated right now, and sort of dreading when two days pass and I can check the results. Any words of wisdom??? Thanks for your support!!!
  14. Different schools, both accelerated programs. Are there any key differences between the Loyola Chicago accelerated program and the Rush accelerated program in terms of academics? Rush has the HESI, does Loyola have a similar test to take before graduation. Rush is proud of their past 6 years of 100% passing NCLEX rate, how about Loyola? Any personal experiences or thoughts you would like to share about the schools? Thanks for your input. P.S. I posted this in the pre-nursing student forum but I thought I might get more input here =)
  15. Rush is changing their programs. There will be no more bachelor programs after the last cohort of January 2008 for the accelerated program. I suppose the last 7 quarter program is the one that starts this fall. I don't believe it will have an negative effects on these last cohorts.
