Friday around lunchtime I got the call we’ve been dreading. My son’s 3rd grade class had a positive COVID exposure and his entire class has to quarantine for 2 weeks.  My husband picked him up from school early. Of course they can’t tell us who it was, but my son thinks it’s his best friend because he’s been absent since Wednesday.

Friday evening my son was feeling sick to his stomach then started vomiting. Saturday morning he was still vomiting, despite trying clear liquids then ice chips then NPO. I took him to the ER and had him tested. My 9 year old has COVID.

He’s quarantined to his bedroom, bathroom, and his brother’s room (brother is in the Army, at basic training, so he uses his computer for schoolwork). I am fully vaccinated but my high-risk husband has only had one dose of his Pfizer.

I need good thoughts and prayers and all that stuff.

My son is worried about his friend and now about himself since we lost my uncle to COVID in December, but he’s feeling much better physically. I can’t let my concern show because my son and husband would BOTH panic. My son is VERY smart and perceptive and my husband has a-fib, diabetes, and is a cancer survivor (all diagnosed within 3 months of each other!) so he’s on edge.

Just trying to maintain my sanity!

Ahhhh!  So sorry to hear this, and many are going around crowing about opening up the schools.  Your hubby and son (and you), are in our prayers.

Let's look at the positives in the situation (no pun intended).  You are vaccinated and hubby had at least one dose!  You know the precautions to take and you are doing the best you can.  Sending you all the good vibes. Watch for symptoms for you and hubby and stay healthy!

Thanks everyone. He started feeling much better and we’re trying to keep it that way.  Our house has a split bedroom plan, so our master is on one side of the house and the boys’ rooms and bathroom are on the other, so he’s confined to “the East wing” as I call it.  We’re doing no-contact food deliveries via a TV set up in the hall. Honestly, the hardest part is not being able to hug him. Oh, his class is doing virtual for two weeks so he was able to see his friend, and his friend is feeling better, so that helped him too.

Hugs n prayers and the east wing plan is good. Air out the rooms and lots of fresh fruits, soups and rest! He is in good hands! You can always vent here!! Go all out with a freakathon! We got you!

Perhaps I am confused. You said you have been vaccinated, so go hug your kid and quarantine hubby, otherwise what was the sense of your vaccine?
