Im graduating in may with a BS in health sciences from Michigan State. The nursing program is extremely hard to get into here so I just decided to get a health related degree while there and then apply to other nursing programs when I graduated.
I applied to about 4 schools and I just got accepted into my first choice school so I dont even care about hearing from the rest of the schools I applied to. Im really excited/nervous and proud of myself because I got in on the first try:D. I also get to start off in the actual nursing courses and clinicals since I already have all the gen ed and pre req courses completed, which also cuts down the cost by $18,000!
What about you guys?
What is everyone doing to prepare? Two months and 18 days till start day!!
I have already finished all of the CPR/immunization requirements. I just had my titer for chickenpox drawn to prove that I am immune. The thing that I havent done yet though is get my 2 step TB test done. I think I'll get started on that tomorrow.
On the 23rd I have to go to the school and get fitted for uniforms (yay!), get my drug screening, and turn in all of my documentation so that I'll be able to register for classes in July.
I dont live in the same state as the school Im attending so while Im there I'll have to look vigorously for an apartment and try to find some decent daycare centers. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything done on the short time that Im there...
Oh and I have 11 weeks and 1 day until I start or 2 months and 3 weeks and 1 day, however you want to put it, lol!
Congrats to everyone!! this really is not an easy accomplishment as we all know so we should all celebrate it. I got accepted my second try...I was very close to just throwing in the towel because of how crazy it is just to get in. However, patience is key and the will to stand strong. I am glad i never gave up on my dream and I am extremely happy for all of you. GOOD LUCK to everyone because he journey has just begun.
:ancong!: To all of you who have been accepted for the fall of 2010. I will be starting the BSN program at Lakeview College of Nursing this fall as well!!!! It was so nervewracking waiting for the acceptance letter. They only let in 48 students in each semester. I am so excited to get started, but also nervous at that same time,if you know what I mean.
I also received my acceptance letter and will be starting Lakeview's BSN program in the fall of 2010 as well!! Congratulations to us and to everyone!
Hi all, I'm a bit late in announcing my good news, but in early May I found out that I got accepted at UT Medical Branch in Galveston for the BSN program. It was completely insane though, because I had applied to UT Austin-didn't get in- and had already decided to stay and reapply when I got the news from UTMB. I'm certainly not complaining, though. I'm taking two classes in the summer to finish pre-reqs that UT Austin didn't require and UTMB does, but I've finished all of the other paperwork and training.
:) Congrats to all!
For fall 2010, I will not find out until July sometime But on a brighter note, I am so excited for all of you and I can hardly wait to find out for me and my two other girlfriends. Good luck to you all!
Lots of love!
PS-My school is only accepting 22 and they only accept once a year! YIKES. I am on pins and needles waiting for a response.

wow July! I've been on the edge of my seat for the last month since my spring grades have been in, but I feel like they are going to wait until the last day :-/ I know they have a lot of applications to go through!
I'm in the same boat - 20 spots for at least 500 applicants, I'm sure..and they only accept for the fall semester. Doesn't that suck? I applied last year and was waitlisted and eventually denied because of course everyone accepts their spot. This year my application is very competitive so my fingers are crossed! I can't wait to know my fate.
Congrats everyone!!!! i too am starting the BSN program in fall 2010!!! i got my acceptance letter back in january..what im most nervous about is this is my first time college experience!!! hopefully ill do fine:)
How in the world did you get into a BSN program without any prior college courses???

Most universities have direct entry programs that don't have pre reqs, I thought it was normal until I came on this website! haha My school is the same way, but I have completed the usual "pre reqs" anyway because I attended a community college beforehand. The "pre req" classes are worked into the curriculum, usually in the first 2 years of the program.
I didn't realize it was going to be so difficult to get into nursing school again. I applied to Maryville for the BSN back in 2003. I walked in and applied. The same day I was signed up for classes and they gave me a 50% scholarship. I dropped the classes due to job restrictions with my schedule at the time. I applied last month to four other schools and just got my acceptance letter to all four BSN programs. I chose the one 2 miles from my house. Clinicals are about 1/2 mile away. I love it!!! Good luck to all of you who are still waiting for your letters. Don't give up!!

I really need to do my drug test, but I'm going to wait because I just had my 7th knee surgery and have hydrocodon, so I'm going to wait until I can hold out without the painkillers for a couple of days. I don't want to have to test positive for it and then have to go through a whole rigormorole with doc's prescriptions and such...... I have till the end of the month and get of crutches a week before that so I should have time.
