Stunned....saw the news story initially online and thought it could not possibly be true. Such a tragedy. I found allnurses in the Fall of 2004 when I had just graduated from grad school and got my first NP job. I wish I had found it earlier. It is an amazing resource for nurses, I recommend it to all the students who do rotations with me. I have communicated with Brian on numerous threads on here. It is SUCH a tragedy. No matter the circumstances, 5 lives are gone and I cannot comprehend it. Prayers for the family and everyone who new them personally and professionally. (HUGS) to the moderators as we move forward, cannot imagine what you guys are going through. So in shock.

He touched So many lives. The lives of all of us who post here whether it be once a day, once a week, once a month or once a year. He also touched the lives of all of our patients that we have dealt with over the years.

What we have learned here on all nurses, has carried us through our careers and our lives.

My heart hurts for all of you. My heart hurts for his family. Holding light and space for everybody affected by this horrible tragedy

I first read the news before any names were released. Perhaps it is the common occurrence of such tragedies in the news; perhaps it is because I've never had personal experience with such a tragedy. My first thoughts were "That's horrible; how sad." Then, as more information became available and I saw I name I recognized, it drove home the reality of such a tragedy in a gut-wrenching and heartbreaking way. I've never met Brian beyond his persona here on AN, but he has influenced my life as a nurse, from the time I joined the site as a scared, newly licensed nurse seeking advice to the point I am now, where I am providing advice while sometimes still seeking it. He will be missed, and his family, friends, and everyone else who knew him are in my thoughts.

AN gives the nursing community a place to seek advice, have questions answered, see opposing viewpoints, learn, vent when it was needed, have fun, and most importantly, provide a place for nurses to have a community well beyond their own specialty, facility, hometown, and even country. The nursing community has definitely lost a great member, but has greatly benefited from having him in its ranks.

Like others, I just saw this on Facebook, too. (The last time I actually "talked" to Brian was on Facebook, which was a while back.) I am at a loss for words except that I simply hold Brian and his family in warm thoughts and prayers. . . For Peace. . .

To the AN staff and members. . . Prayers of Peace to you too as you (as we) process this unbelievable news.

Prayers to Brian's family, friends, colleagues, and the whole AN community.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear this...

My thoughts and prayers go out to their family/friends during this difficult time.
