Such a devastating tragedy. You never trully know what demons someone is battling. Praying for peace for the family during this trying time.

Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

My thoughts are with those who are suffering such a terrible loss.

I started reading posts here before I had even decided to go back to school. It was reading stories so similar to my own that finally gave me the courage to fill out the applications. I'm truly grateful to Brian for creating this space.

I just now learned of this and I'm so sad for Brian's family. I was hoping the moderators would post saying this is a huge mistake. He was truly a godsend for those of us looking for a "home". I will say a prayer for all of them tonight :(

Terribly shocking news - I have no adequate words. Wishing peace for Brian, his family and community, and all those touched by the enterprise he created.

Allnurses is an amazing one-stop nursing community founded by Brian Short. I browse the website whenever I have a general question related to nursing. I joined the site at the beginning of 2007 when I decided on a career in nursing. I joined seeking information as a nursing student, preparing for the NCLEX, determining if I passed the NCLEX, seeking information on job hunting, returning to school and obtaining information for a master's degree as a nurse practitioner, and returning to school for my doctor of nursing practice. I went to this website every step of the way. Thank you allnurses and Brian Short. My condolences to his family.

Thank you Brian for the gift you gave to all of us; this site. A place we as nurses or pre-nurses can go to and laugh, disagree, share, vent, and support one another. Allnurses is a place we can go and be understood by those who also walk in our shoes. This site has meant so very much to me through the years. Thank you again Brian from the bottom of my heart.

Sending condolences and love to all. And to those who were lucky enough to have personally known him, especially many of our wonderful Guides and Moderators, please know that you are in my heart and thoughts.

Well it is a tragedy. I am sure the wife has grieving family as well who are feeling anger and grief simultaneously. It could be a big legacy to raise awareness about this type of violence which seems to be happening more frequently. This forum has a big reach. My condolences to all who are affected by this.
