best i quit or fired story

Published

This isnt mine personally.

The administrator pulled the housekeeper in her office to let her go. Apparently when the boss told the housekeeper(slim female) she turned into the terminator and FLIPPED the 50inch(just estimating) desk on the boss. Chile i never seen such jerry springer like behavior on the job in my life.

Now THATS a way to go out with a bang.

any stories?

Lol, one of my co-workers at the time had said something along the same lines.

I was fired once on accident at an LTC. It was an accident because the nurse they were trying to fire, myself and another nurse had similar first names. So they fired all three of us, how can you know the person's name you are trying to fire..lol:D! Well needless to say once I had enough I put in my two weeks and the last week was my vacation. They told me I would not be able to cash in my vacation. I told them if you look at my records I used all my vacation time months ago.. I know what I am doing!

While working at a correctional facility one of the nurses apparently had a meltdown because his relief was late. He apparently called our manager and told her that he was leaving and threw the phone across medical and threatened to burn the correctional facility down. Needless to say he was escorted out and his security clearance pulled. It was time for him to go he was a horrible nurse. Napping on the job and watching baseball in unoccupied rooms while patients had serious medical issues going on that he refused to see.

I was orienting a new hire and she asked ME the entire shift whether or not she should call out sick the next day because she had double-scheduled herself for both her old job and this job. I never reported that, but I never saw her again, either.

I was training a nurse and she was constantly dropping hints and saying negative things about the facility and her other preceptors. First, she started off with "why was I training her when I only had a year experience in the facility" and also said she didn't think she would be here long. Finally on her first night of orientation, she was going to have 6 patients. She went into the bathroom and 5 minutes later when she came out she received a phone call on the facility phone. It was an "emergency" and she left. The End.

Really? Once you're fired from a nursing job, you can't even go back and gather your belongings before you walk out the door? I thought that was customary with any job...

Most places, security will escort you out immediately. Any belongings left behind or lockers that need cleaned out will be done by either security or the unit manager and available in the security office with an appointment. Technically, the locker belongs to the facility, so once you are fired, you no longer have a right to access the locker or access any staff areas on a unit.

Best one I've had personal experience with is a nurse who simply disappeared. Worked there one day, then was never seen nor heard from again. Turned out said nurse had committed a few crimes (no jail time, just the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition) and had her license suspended for a three year period. Management tried to keep it hush-hush, but word spread anyway.

Pretty darn chicken-**** (and extremely unprofessional)of her! Better rid of her, though!

She probably conveniently omitted mention of the 'work' there in her next job app!

She rubbed a LOT of people the wrong way. I have truly never worked with someone so negative. The entire night she questioned my skills and documentation.

I meant to put that her first day OFF orientation she quit. Good riddance.

I worked LTC and one of the nursing managers and the administrator got into an argument. The NM slapped the admin across the face and stormed out of the meeting. She texted her resignation in the next day. While everyone wanted to slap the admin (he wasn't liked at all) we were happy that the NM left because she was just a mean, spiteful witch.

Sadly, their replacements weren't much better.

Wow!! I worked nights in the ER at a very small rural hospital - like a 3 room (5 bed) ER and we had a RT like that. He had a regular hospital bed in RT office and as soon as the sun went down he konked out for HOURS. When we had a code show up by POV we had to call overhead to get him -and his RT office was across the hall from ER.

Once we had to actually go across the hall to get him - the door was cracked so we poked a head in - he and his girlfriend (who was our CNA off the floor) were playing "doctor". Needless to say they both got sent packing.

She didnt give any trouble and actually had her next employer call our hospital for a reference. He however called in a bomb threat.

I did see him in the news not too long ago for narcotic charges.
