What are some of the most ridiculous requests you have heard?
Patient: "I need to blow my nose" Me with a smile: (hands him the tissue box that was on his tray table, right in front of him) Patient: "I need the tissue, not the box!" Patient was alert and independent... I'm surprised he didn't ask me to blow his nose.

Sick of floor nursing, what now?
I was in the same position as you, only I had different life circumstances that directed me to my current position. I am a Training Specialist for my organization I work for now. Specifically for the Epic system. So I train employees, mainly nurses and doctors, about the system. You can also get certified and do consulting as well ( however, that is not as steady going as a full time position). This can also segway into an analyst job, where you can help build the EMR system your colleagues use. Research it and see if it's a fit. The pay is good too. Usually jobs in "Clinical informatics" do. The pace of the job is definitely more steady as are the hours. Plus I get to help people and use my expertise in a different way.

IV starts in nursing schools
We learned this in our BSN program. My teachers also made sure we had plenty of practice during clinical as well.

case study/Nursing diagnosis need 6
There are several possibilities that you can look into. Don't limit your assessment/nursing diagnoses to just the mother. Look at the father, the child (look into the different stages of child development, such as Piaget and Erikson. As well as, is the current couple's child meeting development mile stones?) Remember, nurses look at the entire picture, not just the patient who is being treated. Hope that will kickstart your brain.

The hardest parts of nursing?
I cannot even imagine. You seem to have a big heart, my friend. Kudos to you for being a peds nurse. That is the field I wish to go into some day.

Humor me please with a question from my son...
Tell him, the patient is becoming a real life Iron Man! Just joking. I agree with the others about full thickness burns and amputation, though, considering the age your son is, he might find those concepts fascinating.
