best i quit or fired story

Nurses Relations

Published

This isnt mine personally.

The administrator pulled the housekeeper in her office to let her go. Apparently when the boss told the housekeeper(slim female) she turned into the terminator and FLIPPED the 50inch(just estimating) desk on the boss. Chile i never seen such jerry springer like behavior on the job in my life.

Now THATS a way to go out with a bang.

any stories?

That's when you should hand the person a blank calendar & say "these are your days off"!

Really? Once you're fired from a nursing job, you can't even go back and gather your belongings before you walk out the door? I thought that wacustomary with any job...

I asked that after some staff members were fired from a facility were I had been working and they said their reason was they didn't want said employee back on the floor causing ****

I was working in a rehab facility and we had a new agency CNA on night shift. She disappeared for three hours. By the time anyone realized she was "gone" and not just taking a very long lunch about two hours had passed. We searched the parking lot (where a someone said they had seen a creepy guy hanging out), we called her phone (it rang from her purse at the nurses station), we called our security (who couldn't find her). We were really worried and imagining the worst scenario's.

We called her agency to notify them of the situation and that we were going to call the police.

Right after that a patient calls to a say that they think their CNA fell asleep in their room. Yep, it's our CNA snoozing in the patients recliner.

She was furious that we had notified her agency she was "missing" and asked, "are you gonna tell them I fell asleep?"

Uhh well yes we are because since we told them you were MISSING and we were going to call the POLICE we now need to tell them where we found you and where you went for three hours. Geeze. She was also shocked we marked her as a "do not return".

Apparently this was her second 12 hour shift as she had a day shift with a different agency that morning...

I'm sure you didn't because...it's downright unsafe.

In all my years I wouldn't even TRY to do that; I'll take a third job and work every day before I try two 12's in one day.

Not me but a "your fired" story I was privy to. When I was in the military, I worked at a large military teaching hospital. One of the Interns would have parties at his house and invite the staff, including the young enlisted guys that lived in the dorms. If you've been in the military that is "fraternization" (docs are officers) and grounds for discipline in and of itself. In addition to this, the doctor was drugging the drinks of the young guys and then taking pictures of them in various states of undress. Probably doing a little more as well. The OSI (Office of Special Investigations -- kind of like military version of FBI) came and escorted him out of the hospital after cleaning out his locker. Never heard anything else about it after that but I'm assuming he was arrested and hopefully lost his medical license.

Nooooo! Even if I was sick I would go to the nsg supervisor and ask to go home if I was that bad - but no way I would go any further than that. The agency staff member should make sure her schedule appropriately.

Probably a dumb question, but what was the point in your co-worker suggesting you take your stethoscope to the meeting with you?

HR was at our main location and I was working in the satellite location. The coworker suggested I take it in case they wanted me to work at the main location, but in reality she knew I was getting fired. Yes, I was told I was not allowed back in that office again and was escorted to my car. Management cut the padlock (my own that I had bought out of pocket) off my locker and mailed that and the contents of my locker to me a month later.

I was once fired by a manager for no reason. Three weeks later SHE was fired (for firing me) but she refused to be fired. She showed up the next day and went into her office and proceeded to pretend she was not fired. Ended up having to get law enforcement involved (no security- rural hospital) to get her out of the building. She did not go easily!

PS: I am ineligible for re-hire because of this somehow. No matter- I've landed in a MUCH better place! :)
