Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)

you're welcome, genny!! :icon_hug:
i'm very proud of everyone who has had the courage to take it and/or retake it this month. you are all an inspiration to everyone who has yet to take it/retake it.
okay. i went to this website: http://www.med.yale.edu/ynhh/infection/dislist/intro.html
and found many interesting things. if you click on it, it'll take you to a "reportable" disease list where they tell you where to place the pt, with whom, what personal protective equipment (ppe) to wear when caring for that pt, and information about the disease you'll be dealing with. it is amazing! it has everything. check this one out:
contact precautions
abscess - major requires standard precautions and contact precautions.
a major abscess is defined as an abscess in which the drainage is not contained by a dressing.
contact precautions:
duration of precautions: until abscess stops draining
the site even has information on encephalitis too. this is what it says about encephalitis:
standard precautions
encephalitis requires standard precautions. for cases of encephalitis due to suspected/confirmed enterovirus in infants and young children, contact precautions is also required.
for additional information on specific agents of encephalitis, select the organism below:
arthropod-borne encephalitis western equine encephalitis st. louis encephalitis california (lacrosse)encephalitis venezuelan equine encephalitis west nile encephalitis
enteroviral infections in infants and young children
echo coxsackie hand, foot, and mouth disease enteroviral infections in adults
echo coxsackie hand, foot, and mouth disease
herpes simplex encephalitis for other agents of encephalitis, consult the disease list index.
hope this helps, guys!
Hey everyone! My testing date is 2 weeks away and I'm really nervous! I've been studying Saunders for the past week because my Kaplan subscription expired. Right now, I feel as though I'm not ready to test. I have to really pound on peds and maternity. I do pretty well with delegation and prioritizing. I usually get between 80-90% on those.
I'm thinking of postponing my test date if I still feel this way at the end of next week. :stone
