Applying for new psych job, what to say to interviewer?
It is never impressive for employer to hire someone who "bad-mouth" their current job. It is just not how you want them to see you. Instead, make it sound that you can be an asset to the facility and given your experience you can care for the patient holistically:) I'm sure you'll love psych though sometimes, it gets so crazy that it gets into you esp doing 12-hr shifts:)

Potential day shift on same hospital where husband works
Hi guys, I just got a job offer from the said hospital but they are giving me a full time position. My husband said that I should just get per diem so we can work around our schedules...Any thoughts? Its so hard to get a bsby sitter based on our schedules. In the Philippines, you can hire a nanny for each of your children and a househelp for $60-70 a month each or maybe cheaper and they live with us in the house so we don't worry if we need to stay out late...

Potential day shift on same hospital where husband works
Thanks so much! That's a very good idea but I will probably get the day shift because I need all the training I can get. I think one of the available units is detox. My husband said that the day shift in this unit is really busy but I told him I don't mind. I just really want to be IN the hospital:) He works in the CSU by the way...will let you as soon as I get a job offer:)

Potential day shift on same hospital where husband works
Hi everyone! Need your advise...My husband works nights in 3 12s. I just applied in the same hospital and the interviewer said I could potentially get the day shift because that is where vacancies are. We have 2 children, a 10 yo and a 3 yo. I have no problem with my eldest because he will be in school soon and he can always go for after school programs but what concerns me is my little one. My husband also works part time in a state hospital where he goes evenings during his off days(8 hr shifts). I plan to place my schedule on his off days on the said hospital while he still goes to the state facility. Please help me find ways to handle this. I have been a stay at home mom for 2 yrs now so I really don't know how we are able to solve this. Please help!!!

New Grad RN Programs in So. Cal?
I saw a 9-day Nurse Refresher Course with the California School of Health Sciences, will that be ok? Is that enough? I agree with you in terms of learning the procedures here and to gain more confidence before really handling patients...That's the reason why I was looking into the new graduate RN programs because they give training in different areas of nursing. My husband by the way, who went into nursing here in the US without enough clinical experience in the Philippines. He said its difficult for him to adjust because he wasn't given enough training with the first facility he was in, assuming that since he is a "travel nurse" he should be experienced. Good thing, when he got transferred to a different facility, he asked for training and a lot of Filipino nurses in that hospital were very willing to assist him, then he was able to gain more confidence...By the way, he is in a Psychiatric Facility, CSU in particular...will it make a difference if I go Psychiatric Nursing rather than Med-Surg?

New Grad RN Programs in So. Cal?
Hi Suzanne, Thanks for your advise...I really hope I get a job before I move mid July but if not, I'm willing to wait when I'm there. My husband has been there for 2 years now and we have been apart for that period of time. He said that I can also apply for a job at the facility he's in right now...I am also willing to get into the New Grad programs even in the fall...What we want right now if for everyone to adjust for our move especially my children and to enjoy most of the summertime as a family. I know that California is totally different from Portland especially the weather hehe:)
