Retake

Hi all. I took My NCLEX 2011 but failed. And its been 14 years and I wanted to try it again. By the way Im currently an Lpn. I studied in the Philippines. If anyone can advice me on how to reapply/steps in retaking NCLEX RN. I appreciate it so much.

Hi! It's great that you're ready to go for your NCLEX-RN again. Even though it's been 14 years since your last attempt in 2011, you can definitely still retake it. Since you studied in the Philippines and are currently an LPN, the first step is to choose which U.S. state you want to apply through, as each state has its own Board of Nursing with different requirements. Most likely, you'll need to reapply from the beginning since your old application is no longer active.

You'll also need to have your nursing education evaluated again by a service like CGFNS or another approved credentials evaluator. Some states might also ask for proof of English proficiency unless you meet certain exemptions. Once the Board of Nursing reviews and approves your documents, they'll give you authorization to take the NCLEX, and you can register with Pearson VUE to schedule your test. Keep in mind that the NCLEX-RN has changed since you last took it, it now uses the "Next Generation" format (NGN), which focuses more on clinical judgment and case studies. So, be sure to study with up-to-date materials that match the current test format. You've already got experience as an LPN, so that's a strong foundation. Just take it step by step.
