10 Bucks An Hour For Agency Orientation
I got paid I think less than 10 bucks an hour for my 3.5 hour orientation. The agency told me a day before I went to this facility that they will only pay me $15 an hour. I was kinda upset with that and told I don't want to accept the assignment anymore. But then I showed up for the 1st day orientation because my agency begged me to show up so I did but then I didn't finished the 1st day and my preceptor just asked me to go home instead if I don't feel like having the orientation and besides her back ache so bad that day and she didn't want to stay for more hours. What's your agency? maybe we have the same agency and that's their policy?

New RN looking for a job!! I am desperate!!
hi cubangirl, warning! long post i'm still hoping for the clinical manager's bargaining with hr for the position she is offering to me so atleast i could start earning money.. you know, i applied to one of the hospital near to our place for their perioperative internship. i waited for months for that position since i passed nclex that was april. so they posted the job last mid-july, i applied. i was interviewed by the phone by the hiring manager a week after..then 2 weeks later i gave her call to ask about the status, she called back and told me i'm not accepted..whew... told me: to get some experience at medical/surgical unit atleast a year, whew i think that would be hard for me to get because i couldn't even step my feet to the hospital and have an interview for this position, most of them requires with hospital experience which i only have 4 months experience as an o.r. nurse back in the philippines and 2 years plus a clinic nurse she also told me: to apply to some adult home care facilities so i could gain some professional reference locally so atleast somebody can say something about me and how i work as an employee,..what:angthts:? does it mean that they are not considering whatever my experience in the philippines sounds like ichiro's baseball experience in japan, not considered at all?..anyways, i might be like a new grad, that's why i applied for this internship position, but then not for me again.. very devastating on my part..my for anyone who is still in the job hunting process like me, practice more with the words that you'll gonna say in your interview specially when you will have phone interview.. another suggestion don't put on your resume if it is only months of experience. i thought my few months experience in the operating room might be my "key" to get inside the o.r. once again. i was wrong it was used against me.. so if the public health department will gonna open their door for me i will get in, work very hard as a public health nurse and give my dedication and passion to the community.

Temporary work for a New grad
are gonna have the internship at legacy too? i sent my application to them about a month ago and i haven't hear anything from them yet so probably they will start calling their applicants this month. i also applied to southwest washington, i already had a phone interview with the hiring manager but when i checked my application status it says thank you for the interest and they will still continue to search for other individual who fits the qualification..very frustrating in part..it is an internship program and i am not qualified even though i got some experience inside the operating room i hope i might hear something from legacy, my only hope to fulfill my dream as an O.R. nurse but i still continue to search for temporary/part job just to earn some cash in 2 months.. good luck to you too! i know you can easily get a job because you have more experience.

Temporary work for a New grad
Hi there, we are in the same boat, i have been looking for a job since April and hopefully will GET IN the perioperative internship on October. i had sent several applications (online and walk-in) to hospitals, agencies, kaiser, and LTC most of them turned me down because of my minimal in clinical/hospital experiences so i'm basically an equivalent of a new grad. i also have an agency, called them last week to follow-up my background check, so it was already forwarded to them by the county jail, cleared. i was kinda upset because they didn't call me up about that and i waited for that background check for 3 weeks, they didn't inform me.. anyways, good thing the agency finally scheduled me for an interview (what interview again? am i still in the process of applying for this position?) and this interview will be tomorrow. i would go for it, it's still a job and need to earn money while waiting for "unsure internship" because yup, we have to consider the hospital that we are applying for these internships will still screen us during the process. so if i were you and you have an agency too and they're offering you some asssignments, go work for it temporarily in the next 2 months..for what i know agencies are pretty much flexible with their schedules which all depends on you. if you are planning to apply for jobs to different employers, better look for part-time temporary positions so you don't necessarily tell these employers that you'll just work for 1-2 months. hope this helps you a little bit

New RN looking for a job!! I am desperate!!
you're not alone cubangirl, same here with me at Washington and Oregon, I am still in job hunting for 3 months now, i have an agency but i'm still in the process of applying for my assignment at the correctional facility, i'm gonna have an interview tomorrow i also applied for public health nurse II position, i was able to become one of the finalists but i didn't get the job, i need some more experience according to the health department. though the manager is still bargaining with their HR to hire me temporarily for a different position maybe a lower position.. i pray that i will hear a good news from the clinical manager tomorrow:plsebeg: just continue sending your applications online or go out apply in person to some LTC who don't post their ad online or newspaper, be a walk-in applicant..i also go out and apply whenever my husband got a chance to get off from work and watched our kids don't give up :wshgrt:

travel nursing..interesting but how?
I am interested doing the travel nursing in the near future but there a lot of questions that's boggling in my mind like license(s)? nursing compact..what is that? how am i going to do that? I have been receiving emails and calls offering me some travel nurse jobs. I am not a well experienced nurse yet but in time I will gonna be and I am still looking forward to be a travel nurse someday mainly because of the high salary and I want to travel. Please give some informations about travel travel specifically obtaining multiple licenses (should I really need to get 3-5 or more licenses depending where will be aasignments?) Thanks, a.k.a. HELP: Please give me an advise
Hello to everyone here, I just passed the nclex-rn recently. I am holding Oregon license and now applying for Washington license mainly because I am living here in Vancouver, WA and I really wanted to apply at Southwest Washington Medical center. So while waiting for my second license, I am currently applying to some staffing agencies at Portland (MAXIM) and here in Vancouver (AAA Medical Staffing). I am a graduate from the Philippines, I stopped my nursing career way back in April 2006 in the Philippines because me and my son migrated here. So basically, I am jobless for more than 2 years now and my experience is only working in a clinic, no specialty at all. I don't know if I am really doing the RIGHT TRACK here? *applying to agencies at Portland, *getting my CPR training this weekend * i want to apply at Kaiser too but I am a SLOW Typer so i guess I might gonna fail their typing test *and as soon as my WA license I am going to apply at Southwest Washington Hospital. Honestly, I am so anxious right now and my husband told me that I should only apply in one employer. Should I just wait for my WA license and stop my other applications? But what if I SWWMC won't accept me? Please tell give me you advise or insight. Please guide me.:plsebeg:
