To feel less alone when I feel alone and isolated in this profession, or when have had Nurse coworkers do *** things , or when I need some career ideas . Happy this website exists . Also helps me realize that these staffing issues are not in our heads , it’s not a time management issue , it’s the penny counters at the hospital understaffing on purpose to make more profits , and then go gaslight you and say oh you’re just not managing your time well. It’s like saying oh well you’re not managing that slice of bread well, it should last you the whole day when you know you need more than one slice of bread a day to survive and get enough calories .
get used to it..it aint gonna change. The $$$ is in command. A lot of hospitals in the usa are run like donut stores chains. We see that in Michigan. Loyality to the hospital has changed. Tis the management that is asking staff to do more that it outside of nursing. Plus we are seeing a lot of Asian & Middle Eastern professions coming in who do not know how to relate to our system or staff. They stick to their own culture. Racist? Maybe. But thats the way it is becoming.
I've been around long enough to have an opinion on everything and here I don't have to care if anyone wants to hear it.
I do like the opportunity to help newbies navigate the world of nursing. I think it's harder than it used to be and I try to offer something helpful if I can.
I also like connecting with other seasoned nurses and appreciate their no-nonsense outlook and wry sense of humour.
AN was my first "social media" long before Instagram and facebook and Twitter. I came a long while ago when I worked night shift and would have insomnia on my days off. I enjoyed interacting with the people and making online friends. (During some reset my post count changed, but it's about double what it shows, and I even took a two yearish break away)
I also have a bad habit of always wanting to throw my two cents into a conversation and wanting to have the last word, but I'm getting better.
Most of my posts the last few years have been on the Breakroom side of things discussing politics and talking with my friends on the "Daily Dairy" Club.
