Why hasn’t pay increased? Hazard pay, etc.? Especially considering that multiple hospitals lack supplies for PPE and we are frontline workers.

PPE only works if you’re screening properly and aggressively.
With a virus where initially not everyone even runs a fever, and testing isn’t actually available - PPE is worthless.
as for hazard pay, my company offered a temporary $2 bump. I told them to keep it and to find an orifice to stick it in.
Management doesn’t get to work from home and hide under their blankies and *pretend* to be generous to the grown-ups actually doing the work. If they came out of their hidey-holes & spent a day triaging in a paper mask like me, maybe I’d have a little respect for them.
I’ll get as many of my patients through this as I can, take my guaranteed case of covid like an adult & look for better pastures after the *** is un-stuck from the fan.
As for “not deserving” hazard pay, that’s not even realistic. We absolutely do deserve a serious bump in pay - I’d give anything to hug my compromised parents now, but I can’t share space with them due to my exposure at work. I don’t even know if I will be able to share space with them for several months in the future due to my workplace exposure to a virus that could kill them.

Nurses at least have a source of income to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Also, if nurses will not step up to provide service in a time of global crisis, how can we claim to be professionals? It seems to me that those who are demanding "hazard pay" are the usual chronic shirkers and malingers who do not deserve what they are getting now.
You probably should read through the “stimulus” bill that just passed- it’s my understanding that hospital lobbyists pushed through a 15% bump in pay for themselves for treating positive covid patients.
at my company, everyone in management is working safely from home.
they’re billing at full-pop, plus 15%, and exposing themselves to 0% of the risk.
all of that money should go directly to front line staff.
btw, my company put nearly half a billion dollars in the bank last year at regular margins, so “not deserving what we get normally” isn’t on the table.

It’s not rude in any way shape or form, perhaps an etiquette book might be helpful to help you understand real etiquette.

I don’t think what we all do is deserving of hazard pay. We don’t put our lives on the line as military and police do on a daily basis. Yes it’s a little more dangerous than prior to COVID but we aren’t disarming bombs or walking into a flay or bullets. Nurses wanting hazard pay just makes the profession look like a bunch of cry babies
Not demanding the pay deserved makes nurses look like sheep IMO. I've seen ads in NYC for up to $100/hr. I wouldn't lay my life down for 45k/yr.

Not an American, so does not apply. Good luck with that, though.

Ah, so without any actual knowledge of the wages or working conditions offered in my country, you're somehow qualified to condemn those who demand better?
A bit pompous of you.

There are docs not making 100 an hour. Under most circumstance and in most places I would saying nursing care isn’t worth 100/hr. But the market can decide that. That’s more than many engineers and other careers that demand a higher set of knowledge.
