There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.

We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.

We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.

To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

3. How long have you been a member?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!

I have no recollection of how I came to AN; I do know (!) that I had just rec'd a small notebook ....my very first computer....for Christmas 2010. I joined in Feb 2011 and somehow went straight to the breakroom/blue side. That was just over 4 years ago. Some remarkably hysterical stuff was going on in the breakroom at the time. It really did make me LOL. Then there was a drama/hissing thing going on between a few of the posters, taking sides, people quitting AN over that hullaballoo. It was sad, and I had to drop out for a while myself, to get over my disappointment that 5 or 6 of my favorite posters were gone.

But then, boredom and curiosity brought me back to AN and it was like a revelation to me: These are my people, this is my planet!

I like the "What's New" feature, and the "Popular/Liked/Hot" feature on every page. AN is so huge I still haven't found all of it yet.

I stay for the people, the conversation, the sanity and insanity, the heart and realness, and the laughs, both happy and sad.

Changes? I had something I was going to put down here, but darned if I can think of it now!

I found it years ago and enjoyed reading the blogs and finding out the experience of other nurses working across the country and even other parts of the world. It provides vital information about the state of nursing, pay, working conditions, common problems and how both individual nurses and hospitals are working to improve things.

It bring me solace and allows me to safely vent about my frustrations and to commiserate and realize I'm not alone and so many of us are dealing with the same issues. I feel lucky to have this place and to be able to share my feelings and thoughts and hopefully find some positive solutions and stress management techniques.

Plus I enjoy learning about the different fields of nursing and what those different jobs are like. I like the new features like Ask Beth and think that is helpful especially for nursing students and new nurses. I like her Why you need an elevator speech article, it is very good! I like all the up to the date resume, and interview tools provided here. I'm sure there are a at least a few of us who have remained at one place for a long time and our interviewing skills are rusty. Even if you feel you're happy and your job is secure something could happen a layoff, a hospital closing, who knows and you could find yourself out there pounding the pavement for another job. So all the info is great!

Keep up the great work!

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I was Googling my nursing program and about being in nursing school.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

I love the interaction with all of the people here. Even when I don't agree, I'm very interested in the views of all of these amazing people who share a common interest with me.

3. How long have you been a member?

Since January 2012, when I first seriously considered pursuing nursing.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

Allnurses has something for everyone. The forums I visit the most have changed as I progressed, and I like that.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

I just wish that the program-specific threads didn't clog up the General forums so much. It seems like a moderator used to move almost all of them and doesn't anymore.

Oh, I have to add. I wish when we blocked people it *actually* blocked them. Maybe it does on the website but on the app it doesn't, at all.

How do you block someone?

I don't even remember. I did it once & it took me a little while to figure it out.

Ooo! Another thing. Lol. :p It would be nice to block people from the app.

I've been on AN since March 2001. Made some great friends here, my current UserName is NOT my original one. I change it up from time to time due to how a former coworker turned me in to management at a former job for something I'd posted here. I'm still friends with a LOT of people I've 'met' here...we started our own spin-off message board and now have a private FB group. I did meet one nurse that I met here in real life in "08 at NTI-Chicago. I'm really good friends with one fellow-RN from here...we used to meet in the chat-room late at night as we'd all worked 2nd shift then....Even talked with THE Brian then....and met him at that NTI plus a few other Admins at the An booth. I pop in every now and then...to get info...to see what's goin on....with the advent of FaceBook, I'm not here as much as I used to be....gotta be careful because BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING!!

The "heart, head, heart sandwich."

I like that in the app I can view threads in a lot of helpful ways - what's new, threads I've participated in, notifications (which seems to be replies). The app is great.

When writing or editing a comment on the website, if I italicize a word and then use backspace within a line or two of that italicized word, the cursor jumps back and starts back spacing over the italicized word. Like it just really wants to delete anything in italics.

I like that the admins and moderators are involved in conversation. Makes you seem like real people. Not like the fake people who run the government. Dammit, where are my meds?

I am here because am starting my nursing pre-licensure program by August with , so I need to learn and to be encouraged by those that have been in the field before me. how tough is the road to nursing?

Back in 2009, I took a job as a Staff Development Educator and was looking for help from peers in my new role. I wanted to connect with and learn from others, and mostly find some support as I was feeling unsure in my job.

I stayed because of the members who are authentic and witty and smart. I like the down to earth feedback you can get on any topic. I enjoy reading all the different points of view on a thread.

allnurses to me is this crazy huge place where I can explore forever and tap into collective nursing wisdom. Kind of unparalleled because of its size and the diversity of its members.

Not long ago, I was working on our PICC line policy at work ( de clotting PICCs) and my Google search took me here where I learned so much about different nursing practices around the country. Actually google searches often bring me here to allnurses, and I love that.

I always hit the "What's New" and scan the articles, trending topics, and "Liked, Popular, Hot" Everytime, I read the definition of each (Liked, Popular, Hot) to understand the difference. Then it seems like a math problem so I give up. :)

I've read allnurses is working on the appearance and layout, not sure how it will look, and I'm not techy so can't offer suggestions...but looking forward to the changes and increased functionality on the site. I would like to "tag" people like you can on Facebook..?

I'm a free lance writer as well as a full time nurse and it caught my eye some time back when allnurses offered writing opportunities because that's what I do (I have a blog and write for another blog and just can't seem to stop writing. My husband says I'm obsessed. note: he is not an RN)

The article writing segued into the Ask Nurse Beth column which started recently. I hope it helps others and adds a teensy bit of value to this amazing site. Or at least doesn't generate too much bad press :)

Thanks for asking my thoughts
