There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.

We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.

We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.

To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

3. How long have you been a member?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!

I found AN through a Google search a couple of years before I started nursing school.

I have stayed because there is a wealth of knowledge to be had. Esme12, GrnTea, VivaLasViejas, tnbutterfly, RubyVee, traumaRUs, OCNRN63, Tewdles, LadyFree28, and a few others have been my unofficial mentors for a long time. Some posters helped me get through school, some have helped with work, and some have just enriched my life. I really miss some of the nurses that aren't here anymore.

I lurked for a long time before I joined a couple of years ago.

I love the fact that if I have a question, more often than not, someone has already answered it. I have a teensy bit of social anxiety, so I love the search feature.

I don't know if I would change anything about AN. I'm kind of comfortable the way it is.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I don't know. I apparently registered in 2013, but had no idea until I came here in May (last month) to ask a question. So you could say I came for the wealth of experience - especially the picayune things like "if I'm applying for endorsement with a wonky pancreas, what's that like?"

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

The wealth of experience was a big draw. I like smart and funny people. A lot of the people here are smart. Some of them are also funny.

3. How long have you been a member?

This is hard for me to answer?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

Okay, the people, but you want features. I like the list of popular/liked/hot threads on the side, though I'm unclear on the difference between popular and hot. I like that in the Android app there's a "participated" tab that just shows me if there are any new posts in threads where I've posted, and takes me straight to them.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

If there's a "participated" tab on the website I can't find it. So, maybe add that or make the button bigger. ;) I like the idea someone else posted of being able to promote awesome threads or comments... I don't know how that would work... maybe a "most popular thread right now" spot on the front page, based on comments or likes? The "popular" list on the right side changes depending on where I'm at (general nursing versus specialized, etc), so having a most popular of the most popular would show off threads people were really into... although it would also mean that for a while your front page may have featured "things that annoy me on allnurses"

On a side note, I have no idea why some people have italicized/different colored names. I looked for it in the FAQ, but didn't see it. Some of you are clearly moderators or admin (it's easy when it says it by your name). Some are "guides," which is a nice, if vague term. Some don't have titles, so maybe they're just intense.

Why did you come to allnurses?

As someone who had been out of nursing on the "mommy track" for years, I was faced with needing to support my kids by myself, and fortunately never let my license lapse- allnurses came up while I was searching for "career re-entry", CE Units, jobs etc That was in 2004! Anybody remember Hotbot? lol :-)

Why did you stay at allnurses?

After I started working again, I loved reading the experiences of other nurses, something I was not able to do in the first phase. I learned here first that the "nursing shortage" was evaporating. I knew it took longer to find a job this time around, but had no idea it was a trend affecting the entire field. Also "uniforms out--scrubs in" "nursemates out--crocs in"

Now I hang around because I like to connect with long-time members, meet new people, and keep up with news and current trends in nursing. Being experienced also means being able to honestly tell newer nurses their crisis will not last forever, because I probably did that too, and lived to tell the tale.

How long have you been a member?

10 years! But I lurked until 2009.

The features I most like now are the color scheme, the "what's new" section, and the "popular" suggestions on the right sidebar. I've mentioned my improvement suggestions recently, so I'll pass on that one for now.

1. Why did you come to allnurses? I wanted to see if others had the same issues or feelings about some things and also to get info. about jobs and pay rates, in the beginning.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses? I get some good information at times, feedback, and am usually entertained as well.

3. How long have you been a member? Since 2004

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc The personalities and some good info.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses? Nothing I can think of.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I found it on an Internet search for a nursing question

2. Why did you stay at allnurse?

It's habit forming and entertaining

3. How long have you been a

member?

A couple years.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

I like the threads. I feel a sense of community. I like the like system, it's fun to like and be liked.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

Don't allow brand new members to start threads. Make them wait a week and accrue some legitimate posts.

Saw it appear on many searches that I did that were nursing related. I decided to open an account because there were various topics that interested me

I started reading it to gain knowledge on things I might not see in my current job. I like to read the medical posts, but not so much the personal, whiny posts. I want to know what other critical care nurses see and do, what new meds or new equipment is out there, etc. I do NOT care to read about the students who did or didn't pass NCLEX, who hates who at their new job, etc., and especially the "do you think I got the job?" How on earth would WE know? Also don't care for the ones who can easily contact their BON for answers. Since I am complaining, I might add that I don't like it when a student or CNA answers a question that really only a nurse should answer.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I found allnurses.com by accident. At the time, I was new in my Nurse Practitioner role and wanted to see if there were online forums where NP's can exchange their experiences, learn about various practice settings, and offer support for each other.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

I enjoy reading many of the posts. I also felt compelled to participate in many of the threads. The World Nursing forum also caught my interest as an internationally educated nurse at the BSN level and thought my experience in the transition to US nursing could be of benefit in that particular forum on allnurses. I have remained active in the Advanced Practice specialty forum and sometimes the Critical Care Nursing specialty forum as they both reflect my experience and my self-identified expertise, if you will.

3. How long have you been a member?

I've been a member since November 2006 and have been a Guide since September 2011.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

The diversity of topics making it impossible not to find one that suits one's interest. I enjoy answering some questions that I "mostly" know the answer for (lol). I consider some of the regulars as online acquaintances and friends even though I've never met any single one of them.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

I'd like to continue to see more informative posts. I'd like to see well-researched topics that are interesting. I'd like for the topics to be relevant and up to date. A lot of allnurses tend to be opinion-editorial pieces which is alright and I have participated in them but I mostly enjoy objective topics that are bias-free.

I came to AllNurses to connect with others in my local area as well as the online community. I wanted to find feedback on the local programs and get tips from others who have gone through the program I'm going to be attending. I also enjoy conversations that relate to everyday situations that nurses find themselves in.

I stay at AllNurses because I like the feedback and conversations on here. I like connecting with others that are "in the same boat" as me.

I've been a member since February? I don't remember but it was earlier this year when I joined.

I enjoy the "what's new" feature so I can see the threads that have new responses on them without having having to forum hop.

Improvement suggestion would be adding the "break room" to the app as I always hear members talk about it but I only access AN from the app so I'd love to see and participate in that forum as well.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I was searching for an answer to a nursing related question I had. I think it was how to make a resume as a nursing student looking for a tech job and Google led me to allnurses.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

I love the diverse opinions, seasoned advice, and in depth conversation and the ability to give unsolicited advice to others. The moderators are top notch. ☺

3. How long have you been a member?

4 years this July. I joined about 8 months after finding the site when I got a tech job. My username for the first year and a half was bsn student+tech.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

See #2. I enjoy the general nursing discussion, "whats new", and the specialty threads.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

I would love to have more case study threads where we get to play detective and figure out what care the patient will need and follow the progression of the patients. I also think for the nursing students, a thread with nclex style questions written by some of our seasoned nurses/educators with a work through of the rationales would be very helpful. In addition, I also think the first 15-20 posts of a new user should be first read and approved by a moderator before they are able to post freely.

1. I came to allnurses because I was just searching for more nursing information and I came across the website.

2. I stayed on allnurses because I absolutely love it. Most of the people are extremely helpful and there is a wealth of information for anyone that needs it. Everyone knows that when it comes down to nursing, your family and friends just don't get it; but here, you have so many people whose been in your shoes.

3. I have been a member for a little over 2 years.

4. I enjoy having all of these resources at my fingertips and the feedback. For example, I was looking for a great RN-BSN school online and not only did I find several great schools, but I also got to see what others felt about those particular schools. I love that the admins are active and the pm feature.

5. I truly love the site the way it is so I'll leave this question for everybody else.
