Where do you sit in lecture

Published

i sit in the front row, front and center. i have been doing this since i started college in 2006. i'm hoping i can secure my front seat spot for my last two classes in ns.

if i sit in the middle or back rows i get very distracted :uhoh3::uhoh3:. so far it has worked well for me. where do you guys prefer to sit in lecture ?

how do you all feel about people "saving" seats?...we have this one group of "ladies" who would save the front seats...some of these gals would come in ust in the knick of time.....people would walk by wanting to sit toward the front but the seats would be saved......i always came abit early so i could "claim" my 3rd seat in the 1st row......thats my seat darn it!!....:yeah:

I always sit in the front, to the right, one seat from the wall (not dead center). I've always been in this seat, from the first day of Fundamentals. It's been pretty lucky for me too! Like another poster mentioned, though, I don't know 75% of the students in class but they know me! It's been good to me thus far and as long as I can hold onto my seat for the next 6 and FINAL lectures of nursing school, I will be good to go!

Other people get to class insanely early so I'm usually stuck sitting where ever there's a spot. Next semester I guess I will have to plan on being there 30 minutes early if I want to have choice of seats. Currently I'm in the front row, all the way to the right, next to the wall. Our classroom is sort of crowded and wide with three long rows of tables with chairs, with a small break in the middle. My seat works out well because I have a laptop and can plug in there if needed. But the girls who get there early (often 20 minutes or more!) sit on the ends of the rows, with these giant wheelie suitcases, presumably full of the books we never use in class. They park their suitcase behind them in the row, then turn around and talk to the people behind them. So when I show up (about 5 minutes before class starts), I always have break up their conversations and make them move their suitcases so I can get to my seat. It's so annoying!

I don't mind sitting in the front, but the instructor does make eye contact with me pretty often, which is sometimes slightly uncomfortable. I'm on my laptop but I never open any programs besides Microsoft One Note and Power Point. So hopefully that doesn't distract the people behind me. I think the instructor looks at me often because I don't need to look at the screen to type, so I'm always looking at her.

I miss the stadium style lecture hall from my Fundamentals class! I like lecture halls; usually there are a surplus of seats so everyone can spread out if need be. Also there was a restroom right out the door at the top, so no one had to walk down towards the instructor if they needed to go. I also liked the dim lighting. Unfortunately Fundamentals is the only class they do in the lecture hall - people get weeded out and the class sizes are small enough for regular classrooms after that.

I HATE those chintzy little student desks that are all one piece... The kind with the attached chair that doesn't move, tiny desk surface and a little basket below the chair. I'm not THAT big, but these things are designed for 100 lb high school students and I am not comfortable in them. My nutrition class had those desks -I'm afraid if I ever have to get up quickly I'll be wearing the desk around my waist like an inner tube :o

I sit in the third or fourth row near a door, but next a wall so I can see everyone that comes in. I might need to make a quick exit!

I sit at home! I'm a hybrid student and only go to class for labs, tests, skill check-offs, etc. Then to the hospital for clinical.

I love it! I can pause and fast forward through the lectures if needed. Being able to pause my nursing instructor is great because it gives me more time to write if I am taking notes.

I liked to sit in random seats to throw people out of their comfort zones.

But...when I am in class I do this as well.

You would think the world was ending if I sat at somebody's "special" desk. Geez.

IT'S A DESK!

:p

a desk....hahahaha.......i am one of those people who need to sit in the same desk.....oh you dont know how much it throws me if i cant.......esp for a test...hahaha.....

I sit in the second or third row...so close to the front but not right in the front, and I tend to try to sit closer to the end.

I always sit in the front row left of center in the classroom and if we are in a lecture hall I usually sit a few rows back.

i been sitting in front, and i have done better than sitting in back before.
