i sit in the front row, front and center. i have been doing this since i started college in 2006. i'm hoping i can secure my front seat spot for my last two classes in ns.
if i sit in the middle or back rows i get very distracted :uhoh3:. so far it has worked well for me. where do you guys prefer to sit in lecture ?
I sit in the middle most of the time. I don't like to be at the front, you more likely to be asked questions from the lecturer. My friends all prefer to sit in the middle. We aren't disruptive but we can whisper the odd thing to clarify stuff if we arent sure about something. Its also easier to fall asleep on each others shoulders after a mad nite out! we all came straight out of highschool so we try to make the most of the college experience lol Everyone is the same though......excluding the few mature students.....who sit at the front......we are all aged 17-21!!

I started college at 16 and always enjoyed sitting in the front. I guess I'm a nerd, I love when the teacher asks me a question, gives me a chance to regurgitate what I learned.
I am a very back row kind of girl. It's funny because I sit in the back row so I won't become distracted by what is going on behind me! If I hear stuff going on but can't see it, it becomes more distracting then if I had a clear view of the whole room. Also, I tend to be a little self conscious so I don't like it when people are behind me. I would end up tugging at my shirts, playing with my hair, and fiddling around the whole time worrying about someone looking at me then just focusing on the teacher. If I sit in the back, I can do whatever and not worry about distracting others, like drink water or eat a snack. In the end, not worrying about other people around me makes me less distracted. Interesting to see everyones different, yet similar thoughts on this.
Here is an interactive diagram that tells you what your seat choice says about you. Just click the seat where you normally sit. :)
I sit in the front, but to the side. I used to be the person always in the back corner of a classroom, but now I'm always wanting to get dibs on the front row. I don't like sitting in the middle...I still like my corners, so I always find a corner in the front! I definitely get more out of a class when I'm sitting in the front being a little nerd. I don't get distracted by those select few who don't care as much as I do about the lectures.
I sit in the front. I used to sit towards the back, but I noticed that I would get distracted by what people are wearing and what they were doing. I also tended not to be as involved in class discussions when I would sit farther back. The way I look at it is if people are making faces at my questions or responses at least I can't see them. :)
I like the front row on the end. I don't like distractions in front of me. I keep myself on track better with only the teachers. The other students who sit in the front tend to talk to each other less which helps a lot too!!
good question!
Isn't it funny too how everyone kind of stakes out their "seat" and stays there?

We rarely had assigned seating--I think only one professor did it--but all of us sat in the same seats anyway. Many were thrown off if someone else sat in "their" seat. And there was always an adjustment period at the beginning of each new class when we gained/lost students and we had to work that into our seating arrangements :)
