So, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and some other random celebrities I've never heard of hit up the Peds hospital at Tufts to promote the all-ladies remake of Ghostbusters.
Apparently a bunch of people are really pissed, mainly saying its exploiting children who have never heard of Ghostbusters and obviously don't give a flying fart.
Yay?
Or nay?
I am late to the party . . .but I had to google Chris Hemsworth too. Of course, I know Thor! :)I'm not crazy about celebs doing this and then publicizing it.
It wasn't the celebs that publicized it, it was the hospital. Melissa McCarthy's facebook page doesn't mention it at all. Kristen Wiig doesn't appear to have an official facebook page, just one that's automatically generated with Wikipedia content. Kate McCinnon's facebook page hasn't been updated since May and when I search "Leslie Jones" on facebook, it leads me to a profile of someone who works at McDonald's.
This is par the course for pediatric hospitals, there are always celebrities and local sports heroes around. I ran into the New England Patriots while teaching a family how to mix IV antibiotics for home administration a few weeks ago. In 8 years of being a pediatric nurse, I've never seen this kind of negativity towards something that happens regularly in pediatrics before.
The Facebook pictures make me think the hospital had a case of the swoons, and it had nothing to do with making kids happy, unless the kids are regular readers of Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and the "in production" notices on Imdb.com
My experience is that celebrity visits are usually low-key, and the charm is usually due to the child recognizing the celebrity and interacting with them.
That poor kid in the bed looked like a prop.
Now if someone drove the original ambulance down the hall and playfully slimed those kids who could handle it, well OK then! I myself would love to see the eggs breaking by themselves in Dana's fridge again, who wouldn't?
(I'm a total fangirl for the original seeing as how I had to watch the thing hundreds of times with my then 4 yr old stepdaughter!)
Not gonna post eye candy but if I did it would be in a perfectly tailored tuxedo.
