So, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and some other random celebrities I've never heard of hit up the Peds hospital at Tufts to promote the all-ladies remake of Ghostbusters.
Apparently a bunch of people are really pissed, mainly saying its exploiting children who have never heard of Ghostbusters and obviously don't give a flying fart.
Yay?
Or nay?
Or he is miserable because he's suffering some terrible illness, hence the hospitalization. Its the parents that wanted them there probably hoping it might cheer him up.
How would he know who they are? He isn't old enough to watch SNL or any movies Kristin Wiig or Melissa McCarthy act in.
You are grossly underestimating the popular culture knowledge and professional sports fanaticism that many children happily cling to. Especially those that might be chronically ill and need to develop more sedentary interests.
So only the most popular movie stars should be allowed to enter the hospital and attempt to cheer kids up? By that logic, other entertainers should be banned like clowns and musicians.

No you are misreading my response. I'm simply stating that children DO know sports figures, etc. not just parents. Your assumption of logic is flawed especially since clowns and musicians are generic persona and easily identifiable.
Hey, I'm just here for the eye candy...
Oh gosh . . .I found this awesome photo of Tom Selleck a few days ago that I posted to a friend's FB page. Her hubby looks a lot like him.
But I am not going to make another "attachment" mess. I did that earlier on another thread.
Maybe I can find the link.
He doesn't have to have a clue who they are to enjoy a large group all dressed up with cool props.
He didn't seem to enjoy a large group with cool props (that he didn't know what they are). Once again, my point. If he enjoyed it, even a little bit, I'm sure there would've been a sign on his face. But if my kid is that sick & miserable I wouldn't want a celebrity around to try to cheer him up, especially a celebrity he wouldn't even know or celebrities dressed up as things he wouldn't know what they are. I'm sure he would've enjoyed the TMNT more than those random women dressed up as the Ghost Busters (which he might or might not know).

Your nursing judgment should tell you that it should be the right celebrity/sports star/etc for all age groups. The teens/parents really enjoyed the visit because they are able to watch SNL & the movies Kristin & Melissa are in & are fans (also have watched the older Ghost Busters movie).
Where as the little children have no clue who those people are, let alone Ghost Busters. Bringing in people more relevant to someone younger kids can relate to is understandable. If my son was in the hospital & those women came around he wouldn't know who they are. How would that benefit him? Where as a someone dressed up as a clown or Big Bird, that's different.
I understand you can't make everyone happy but you also have to reach out to your audience & that is a *children's* hospital & I wonder what is the median age there? Who really made those signs, the parents or the patients? If the patients, how old are the patients who made the signs? Did PR have anything to do with it either?
I don't fault the actors, but the PR department. They definitely chose some less than stellar photos to promote this visit combined with poorly anticipated movie remake.
Agreed. In that second pic, I think Melissa and Kristen look like they feel totally awkward posing with this kid who isn't into it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the producers pushing for it rather than the cast.
I do love the idea of celebs and athletes visiting kids just to cheer them up. Before Miley Cyrus got all naked and crazy, I'm sure that kids in the hospital would have just loved to see here. I'm sure there are more nowadays, I just have no idea who they are...
