What's the weirdest baby name?

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

i have strange named kids in my own family and amongst friends. my 11 year old nephew is named sahvere (yes, pronounced exactly like the word severe. his mother, my boyfriend's sister said she named him that due to the way her life was severely changed after becoming a mother), her second son's name is justus (justice spelled differently), her best friend has a daughter named symmetria and i went to school with a december and sunshine. oh, and one of my friend's dated a woman named nova and almost married her. his last name is cain.

is sahvere your brother's son? thanksgiving dinner must be quite the table with your boyfriend's sister married to your brother!

If our last child was a girl, she would've been named Nova. Instead we have a baby boy named River. Got a lot of flack for those choices! But my last name is definitely not Cain!

And I love the names December and Sunshine! Hubby and I just have a little too much hippy in us, I guess :)

I heard a mother in the grocery store calling her (2 y.o.?) son "Sir"

Lol I call my son sir, like excuse me sir what are you doing? He has a percfectly normal name though lol!

That's exactly what I thought when I read that! I call my boys "sir" all the time...it never occurred to me that someone out there might think that was an actual name!

My kids have all kinds of weird nicknames. I call River "Boat," which is just short for his OTHER nckname, RiverBoat. Someone out there probably thinks I named my poor baby "Boat."

I once heard of a mom who named her child Nosmoking.....said it was the last thing she saw before her c/s. I also had a teen mom who named her child Margarita......(sad). I learned from many years working with new parents how to keep a straight face.

Margarita means "daisy" in Spanish... so that may be why she did that. It's actually a pretty common name.

I recently discovered that there is an Indy Racecar driver named Will Power. Ya think his mom quit smoking while preggers or what?

I'm dating a guy whose last name is pronounced "Cool." I am going to have so much fun naming my kids if we get married! :)

twins named "Lucipher" and "Satan"- no kidding. No amount of visits from social workers, hospital admin, the state could convince mom to change her mind, poor babies:(

My husband used to tell people we were naming our son lucifer. Kidding of course, his name is Michael.

Alucard.....Dracula spelled backwards....

Hey, I had a great one during clinicals! I was checking on a patient who was being admitted to PP. I went in to check her and baby when I saw the cribcard. The name was La-a. "Oh my goodness, I thought to myself." So, I asked "How's little Laa doing?" She said to me, "That's not her name. Her name is Lahyphena." No sooner than I could say, "Spelling lessons in room 10, STAT!" she says to me, "The hyphen don't be silent.":D

I remember another one from school that I heard from resident. Her residents friend's sister's plumber's car mechanic's doc's wife had a midwife delivery who named her baby "Ahquloitqkimberly." She asked, "How in the world do you pronounce that, like "Ah-que-liot-que-kim-ber-lee?" The mom looked insulted, and said, "Her name is Kimberly! The "Ahquloitq" is silent!" A-ha!

Isn't silence golden sometimes? ;)
