What's the weirdest baby name?

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Hey, I had a great one during clinicals! I was checking on a patient who was being admitted to PP. I went in to check her and baby when I saw the cribcard. The name was La-a. "Oh my goodness, I thought to myself." So, I asked "How's little Laa doing?" She said to me, "That's not her name. Her name is Lahyphena." No sooner than I could say, "Spelling lessons in room 10, STAT!" she says to me, "The hyphen don't be silent.":D

I remember another one from school that I heard from resident. Her residents friend's sister's plumber's car mechanic's doc's wife had a midwife delivery who named her baby "Ahquloitqkimberly." She asked, "How in the world do you pronounce that, like "Ah-que-liot-que-kim-ber-lee?" The mom looked insulted, and said, "Her name is Kimberly! The "Ahquloitq" is silent!" A-ha!

Isn't silence golden sometimes? ;)

Haha @ "the ahquloitq is silent"!

And I thought learning how to spell Christine in 1st grade was rough! LOL

A resident who was doing his rounds in my Ped office told me he had a patient named Shithead..(pronounced: Shih-theed`) I'll never get over that one. But we had so many names in that office that were out of control. The worst were entire families of siblings with such similar spelling names, we constantly got charts mixed up, like Shaena and Shenae..ugh!!! lol

Boy - look what I missed not having children! Of course, I can name a cat!

From my niece's school class a little girl named Meadow, last name Summers. So on the class register she is 'Summers Meadow'. In the same class there is also J-A (pronounced Jaydasha).

Okay, the lady who was in the room with me when I had my older daughter named her son Country Joe.

My hubby does social security disability and he SWEARS that he PERSONALLY has seen people named Lemonjello and Orangejello (pronounced le-mohngello and or-ahngello). I don't know.

My daughter has a friend named Orion. All I can say is that his parents were way cooler than we were!

Oh! And I took care of a lady in her 80's whose name was Lola Dimples. Can you imagine? I told her she must have been the cutest baby in the world to have been named that!!!

Love

Dennie

I personally had a pt name her dtr orangejello. Pronounced as above

My mom told me about a woman in the 80's who named her twins that, after the food she craved the most:

Orange Jello

Lemon Jello

I knew a woman who named her daughter Yonina.

For those of you who don't know a Yoni is sanskrit for lady parts.

How funny! My friend is a postpartum nurse and told me a patient had twins and one had this name...the other twin was named A$$hole (pronounced A-shol-ay). I kid you not :(
