There's been a lot of rants and vents about nursing, but let's focus on the odd tasks that make you happy. Maybe you love post-OP patients or CRRT or giving bed baths...what's something that makes you happy?

Personally, I love enteral feedings. I love placing NGs and Dobhoffs. I love Kangaroo pumps, I love crushing meds, and flushing the line with 30 ccs. I love hearing the whoosh when I check placement q 4 h. It's my favorite thing!

I love when educating patients and they learn something

lab draws and everything central lines!

Now that I'm in the school setting, I don't get to do it anymore and I miss it so much! It was always the best feeling to successfully access that difficult deep and tilted port.

I am a post op nurse in a free standing facility. I love taking care of my patients getting to know them, helping control their pain and wheeling them out. I often get a hug and that makes my day! I am looking at retirement in the next few years, but I am sure I will be volunteering somewhere just so I can continue helping and encouraging others. I can't think of anything more rewarding.

Clean caths. Guys are easy. Women not so much but I find it super-satisfying for reasons I still cannot explain.

This thread is full of so much kindness. I love it!

When I worked in the hospital I loved deep big wounds that needed packing!

I don't have a fav task now!

Yesss! I packed a wound that required TWO rolls of kerlix today and loved it!

IV starts! Or giving a sore post-op a quick back rub with a little bit of lotion in the AM. Or finally getting my lines untangled after 30 minutes. I can’t decide

Removing surgical staples and phlebotomy. I wish more patients had staples in. The subtle crunch when you start using the staple remover... It's surprisingly satisfying.

I'm a school nurse--I love teaching the little kids about anything medical--especially their own medical conditions. They are sponges, and they're excited to learn and understand. I enjoy the challenge of simplifying to their learning level.

Accessing a port-a-acth is oddly satisfying to me. Especially when it's tricky and you get blood right away.

I've always liked to hold liquid meds at eye level to check for the meniscus.

I liked giving babies the pink oral polio vaccine, because it was the only one that didn't hurt.

Trach suctioning and ear lavage not exactly fun, but "wow, I can breathe/hear again!" is pretty awesome.

I love doing complicated VAC dressings! The greatest win to achieve a seal on the first go!
