What will YOU do with your first "real" paycheck!?

Published

as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

Don't come in here bursting bubbles:chuckle Party pooper. I think most of these people are intelligent enough to know they won't be doing all of these things with their first checks. I personally have never had a "real career" before, so I am going to be able to afford alot of things I have never been able to buy. Reality of it is....nursing pays more than $500 every 2 weeks...so um, yeah, even with taxes taken out, it's still more than some of us have ever seen. Every single thing these soon to be nurses wish to do once they start working in their new profession is attainable. Someone always has to come in and put a damper on a post where ppl are just shooting the breeze and having fun. Don't do that:nono:

I wasn't trying to burst any bubbles or insult anyone's intelligence. I was trying to be a little humorous. Lighten up. Hey, I have lost 5 or so jobs during the last 3 years and I have several degrees including a master in computer science. But none of them are working for me right now and nursing is something I have been wanting to do since I was a Candy Striper and Nursing Aide at 12 and 13. That's right, I was certified as a nursing aide back in the days at 13. I went to regular school during the day and night school for NA during the night, which was over 20 miles from my home. So, I had to get a ride with someone in the class.

I am looking forward to doing this and have a stable career.

what else will you all be doing?

i keep getting different ideas....

like...going to pick out my new car, finally being able to afford a personal trainer, starting to save up for a house, planning my wedding (ok, so no diamond, yet....but bf's still in school, too..i'll give him some time to save up for a BIG ONE ....lol), i just might be busier AFTER i graduate! hahaha

i can't wait to grow up! i've been putting it off for so long! lol

 Hmmm... a house. Definitely want to start saving for a house. I want a nice vehicle. BIG- either a mini van or an SUV. I want to go to the salon and get extensions professionally done and I want to get a manicure and a pedicure. I want to sign my girls up for dance and/or gymnastics and my son up for tae kwon do. This all of course in my 2, 3, and 4th checks!

And tithe each time!

:balloons: photocopy it, and realize...

it was all worth it. :balloons:

yep, that's one i had not thought about. i will mos def copy it and frame it! wow, it's going to feel good:)

Since we are used to living on the low income we have now, I'll have it direct depositied into a savings, then look at it in 6 months and get something good, probably a vehicle.

amen to that.

I hadn't even thought that far yet until I read all of these posts. I must say you all are not joking........ :)

1.) Pay off all the past due bills.

2.) Take my family on a nice long 10 day trip on a cruise or some island.

3.) Trade in my mini-van for me a Brand new Lexus LS400 oo lexus truck. (yeah right I am going to keep my mini-van until the wheels fall off it's only a 2001.)

4.) I am going to do a make-over of my house.

5.) Most of all I just want to make a better life for my family not just pay-check to pay check but actually be able to live comfortable, because right now it's not comfortable when you are always low on funds........ :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I bought good toilet paper ( the expensive kind, not the other stuff that will take rust off of a Buick bumper), a Venus razor, name brand shaving gel (instead of the 98 cent special), Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and expensive foundation.

Just the thought brings tears to my eyes of having not to live paycheck to paycheck. First sign up for loan payments, go to mall and buy me a nice outfit that hasn't been out of date for years. Get me a new car! By then mine will be on it's last leg. Get my husband anything he wants. God and that man have been my rock when I think the world is going to end. Go for a vacation when the time is right. I won't know what it is to have more than 50.00 after bills are paid. :)

Thanks for the photocopy idea. I know that I"m going to mat my degree and board. I guess that can go right next to it! :)

Amen to being able to buy expensive toilet paper!

Hmmm, that would be another thread all together. A thread asking nurses what they did with their first paychecks.:) I might be off to make a new post.:coollook:
