as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....
what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?
i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!
then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!
i can't wait!
i will save the great majority of the check by putting in my savings/checking account. i don't believe in spending a lot when you're just starting out. the rest will be for rent and sigh *loans*. sounds like everyone else will be having a ball! i think i'll wait a little while until check 12 or something before i spend it on stuff i want...what do i want? aha! a treadmill!!! a huge treadmill with all the works! i am a big exercise person, but sometimes you just want to stay indoors and work out. so a treadmill... he he he.
yeah, i had to dig it out of myself...
Oh, this post is SO awesome! It's great to dream. Ok...first check. Let's see...
I hopefully will be working at the hospital before then as a tech, so my bills should be caught up. In that case, I would
1. Buy my children, my husband, and myself (BUY MYSELF SOMETHING???) an outfit each
2. Pay into some of my bills
3. Put some of the money into each of my children's savings accounts, and continue to put in a small percentage of my check thereafter.
Oh yea. 10% to tithes. That's first thing! :)
Ok...I'm gonna be honest...I'm gonna spend it all on ME, ME, ME.
My next check I am going to make a huge donation to the public library that I have used as my study home. Also, thanks to them for having movies that kept my kids entertained so I could study.
I also plan on donating a paycheck to church. I know that I am not making this on my own. It has all been by the grace of God.
After that, I am paying down debt, making home repairs, buying a new dining room and living room set.
Lastly, I will pay back my 401k plan. That poor thing has been drained almost dry.
Ummm first of all I'd give my tithes to the church which I haven't been able to do with no income........
Then I'd pay ALL my bills..ON TIME...so the bill collectors will take me off their speed dial...lol And this can't all be done in one paycheck, but my next project would be to buy a decent car, one that will actually get me from Point A to Point B on a REGULAR BASIS...lol....oh yea and I'd actually go out to dinner....mexican I think...wow a girl can dream...lol
i totally forgot to treat myself to dinner! LOL
gosh, this thread has taken so much weight off of my shoulders because i realized that i'm not the only "struggling" student nurse.it's also soooo comforting to dream about how much brighter the future will be...ahhhhhhh....
by the way...anyone checked out Ebay for their school supplies? (shoes, scrubs, steths, etc.)?
i got some pretty dang good deals on there!

I actually know a lady that lives here in Alabama but works in GA during the week. They pay for her to stay in GA...i think her and another lady have an apt. and they pay her gas and food..all that good stuff. From what she's told me it's Definitely worth the pay.
Now as for me..my first paycheck, I'll give some to my parents, buy something for my sis and buy me a REAL Louis V. handbag..i have a fake now that I still paid a good bit for. Lol. That's somethin to keep me motivated cuz I've wanted one for years.
