as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

hmmmmm good Q.........

my first check......

i think with my first check i'll buy something special for my partner and son, the two ppl who along with me, have suffered thru all this schooling.

after that it will be time to pay down the credit card we not-so-affectionately call the "student loan card".

then it will be home improvemant time, siding, new wood flooring throughout our house, and, a new roof.

again, good Q.

improvement*

buy some groceries....not including saltine crackers and hotdogs or rice a roni.

def. buy a full tank of gas.

manicure/pedicure at the same time...

rent to my new apmt...

then i have to wait until the next paycheck to actually go on that shopping spree...oh and definitely buy some new nursing shoes--mine have a hole in the toe!!!

this is a cute thread:

well, dh and i want to get out of the midwest (we are floridians and miss the beach) so my money is going in the bank so we can move! :) i'll have to buy myself a graduation present though-my best friend lives in france, so i am thinking a trip there would be fun!

I want to buy myself a Louis V. tote bag. They are pretty expensive and that would be a totally irrational thing to buy. Then I want to start saving for my retirement which being 40 I have to start thinking about those things. I don't know but I hear about my sister ( who is a ICU nurse and the money she makes). Which is a motivating factor when I am up late studying.

My very first paycheck, I'm taking my hubby to a fancy schmancy restaurant! :chuckle The rest will go into savings and for home improvements.

Right now my honey takes care of the bills...so..

After all the studying and hard work, I'm going to buy a pretty little Ragdoll cat to add to my family...they're adorable...and I'll take Scott to a Coldplay concert...son on a Disney cruise...:p

save as much as I can for a year or so to buy my first house

also start to pay back my 40k in student loans

I'm just going to look at it for hours, and then go blow it..lol.. Shoes, purse, some clothes for my girls. Maybe I'll take hubby out.:rotfl:

I'm with you Matt..I plan on taking $200 dollars out of my first check to live off of for the next two weeks(that's what I live off now)..give some to the student loan people(currently paying them 75/month)..and put the rest into a savings account for my future home(which I plan on having built, hopefully on a lake). Thank God I have my mom's nursing paychecks from work on my wall to keep me motiviated. She has an ADN and cleared $120,000 last year. Motivation!! Motivation!!!!

pay my parents bribe money to let me live in their house for another 2 years.

Hi

I have not been on vacation in almost 14 years and really deserve one so I think I will take a weekend away from everything. Thinking maybe the Mall of America. My hubby hates the city and would not enjoy the trip so will bring my best friend cause she deserves one as much as I do. Its been so long since I have had a ladies night out and way overdue.

Ooops... I already spent that first paycheck, I guess I should have waited for my first nursing class to start. Ok, my 2nd paycheck is definately going towards some type of college savings for my daughter. I don't want her to ever be in the situation I'm in.
