Maybe I get get some advice here re:PALS/Pears...
Hello all! I originally posted this on the Peds board, but no replies so far...any advice from the Med/Surg forum would be helpful. I have to decide soon on which course dates to enroll & pay for..thank you to all! I'm a recent nurse graduate, hoping to eventually find a job working on a peds floor. I have 6 years of medical experience, but it's been in the Infertility dept...I want to somehow make my resume standout...considering enrolling in a PALS & PEARS course, but would like to know if the info will be redundant or beneficial to take both courses. Any info, advice will be greatly appreciated.

UMDNJ Nurse Residency Program Fall 2010
Thank you for the reply. Just a few more questions. Did UMDNJ make any job offers to the resident nurses? Is the application process competitive? How many in your class and were the hours flexible? Are night hours considered? Appreciate your help!

Anyone feel this way...
I'm back from testing...I was done in 50 mins...75 questions...A ton of Priority, Infection control..1 math, 5-6 sata and some psych & peds..overall, I felt neither confident or doomed walking out of the testing center. I just tried the PVT trick and got the good pop up! It's time to pop in the Black Eyed Peas CD because I got a feeling!!! Thank you all for your well wishes and support. This site is the greatest!

Anyone feel this way...
I've been getting scores from 61-78%...mostly around 65 to 70%. My program used the ATI as well, which most of us didn't like...but now I realize it has helped me immensely...to the point where I enrolled in the VATI due to the easy access at home & self paced format. My fav has been the LaCharity book, though....I had an issue with Priority style of questions, but not anymore..:-)...the overall med -surg content has me most nervous. We'll, I'll see tomorrow @ 2:00 p.m...Jersey time! Off I go to answer a few more questions. I'll be sure to update my of my thoughts & feelings of the exam.

July 2010 nclex rn study group
Hello all! I have to say, I've been lurking on this board for years and rarely posted. I feel as if I always gained a lot of knowledge from this board, but never gave anything back. We'll, I'm about to start! I take my nclex mid July and look forward to sharing my woes and dreams with the July NCLEX group! I'm currently using the Kaplan book, NCLEX 4000 & ATI supplements. So far, I've completed 175 questions a day, for the past week & will continue until the 17th...maybe bump it up a notch the last week. Oh, yeah throw in a spin class or two! Wishing you all a productive studying!

Help with a letter to my employer re: donation for nursing pinning
Everyone has a difference of opinion & work environment. I am comfortable asking my employer & have the blessing of my nursing manager. I value my work and I have learned, but I am of value, too, as an employee. It works both ways here.I'm not asking for the world, just a little support. Thank you all for your input.

Help with a letter to my employer re: donation for nursing pinning
We are paying for our own pins..just need some help with the pinning ceremony expenses. I do not mind asking my employer to donate, since every single time they are short staffed, every time they need an extra shift help, every time they need more & more, we are there to fill in the gaps with not a thank you. EVER. I take away from my studies to help my employer. They least they can do is donate a few dollars. I'm not asking to fund the entire ceremony! My nurse manager thought it was a great idea & gave me the thumbs up. So I'm going to take the chance..I wish others would do the same...might be surprised with the results. And yes, we are going to do tons of baking for the ceremony & no wine, alcohol is not allowed. In my class of 30, we all adult students whom hold FT jobs & attend classes in the evening a few days a week. I'm quite surprised at the reaction to my request on the forum. All of Professors & fellow nursing co workers thought it was a great idea..especially since 2 of my classmates have had success with their employer re: a donation.

Help with a letter to my employer re: donation for nursing pinning
The center in which I work is not hurting financially;if it were, I would not be asking. I just thought asking my employer for a few bucks to support 2 of their hardworking nursing students, wouldn't be too much to ask for...especially since all that we have learned in the past 3years, we apply every single day at their practice and don't see a penny for it. I know many have reservations asking, but I don't. Just need some help putting a request together. I figure I can at least try..so help raise funds for our pinning ceremony, decorations and eats...the worst they can say is no...but at least I tried..

Help with a letter to my employer re: donation for nursing pinning
The fundraising offsets the cost of our nursing pins, our continental breakfast for over 60 students & 20 staff members, decorations for the ceremony, supplies, etc. From what I've been told, our community college does not provide any funds to us for the ceremony and bf. We are on our own if we can any kind of ceremony & bf...we will graduate later on in the day with the rest of the college graduates...this ceremony, is provided by the college, of course.

Help with a letter to my employer re: donation for nursing pinning
Hello all! My nursing program is working diligently to raise funds for our nursing pinning ceremony, but I think due to the economy, donations are at a all time low. We are trying bake sales, car washes, etc., but still have come up short. I thought of approaching my employer for a dontation, (there are 2 employees in the same program), and feel confident they will be generous, but I just can't rack my brain to come up with a short and sweet letter/request. Any openers, ideas, comments, statements, closing will be greatly appreciated. I work for a thriving medical practice, btw...just give me some help with a persuasive letter to present them with. Appreciate all of your time & input in advance! SN, class of May 2010

Army Reserves. NJ location
Hello, I'm currently in nursing school, due to graduate 5/10 with my ADN. I've always been interested in the military and would like to fulfill my dreams. My husband and I have discussed this for over 2 years, and he's finally realizes I won't go down w/o a fight. I have his full support. Now, I've read stories in this forum in regards to quotas being met, difficulties contacting health care recruiters, no call backs. If anyone can direct me to the proper health care recruiter in New Jersey (I'm in the Somerset County area), it will be GREATLY appreciated. A personal message will be totally acceptable as well. Thank you all in advance for your help! Gwen 33 yr. old nursing student interested in Army Nurse Corps.Reserves
