as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

With my first check, I plan to book my parents a nice over do vacation. I want to show them how I appreciated all the support (giving me encouragment, love, and financial assitance). There has been times when i couldn't see that light at the end of the tunnel,:banghead: but there love has helped me persevere thus far.

Old thread...new Nurse :yeah:Just passed NCLEX friday!! First paycheck going to save $1000 and live off the rest (200) :D for 2 weeks. (Hey been doing it for years now :banghead: ) Next paycheck blow it on me and the girlfriend .... get her something nice! After that next is debt snowball :bowingpur It's going to be nice to finally not have to study on days off.... got to find something to do on those days off :vdgmg:

Buy lots of candy, ice cream, canned nuts, juices, fruit - fill the freezer with some favorite cuts of beef, seafood. Get a pedicure-good hair cut, quality make-up, lotions, perfume, new cloths. --- Bought myself fresh cut flowers

This has been a great thread to read. I won't get my first nursing Paycheck for a long time (about 2 years), I have worked before though and had paychecks, but this will all be play money I am making, unless my husband doesn't shape up and than it would be starting over money LOL.

Ok so I have no idea, hubby is supposed to be paying for a Vacation for me and my mom to Europe for graduation before I start work or if I get a job right away when I can have my first 2 weeks vacation. I can pretty much get what I want (within reason) as it is so I don't have anything I have really been wanting.

I guess I would spend it on something fun for me the husband and the kids for all we went through to get me through nursing school, all the sacrifices made, especially the kids. So would see what THEY would really like to do and do it. My kids really want a vacation to Mexico or a Disney Cruise, so would take more than the first paycheck but maybe save up a few and treat them to that. They are great supportive kids and have earned it. After that it's saving for college for them and savings for us and play money. With 4 kids you can't provide a lot of the things like College and stuff without a lot of preparation. Well unless your rich. I also hope to be able to give them down payments for homes for wedding gifts or something equivalent depending on what path they take.

hmm. this is such a good question, i don't even know. there are so many things I'm sure we all have been deprived from that for sure I'll be blowing it on silly things. A vacation will be nice which I'll start planning one because all this hard work and sacrifice deserves a good deserving break Away from all the books. I won't make a list which I'm sure by the time I get done, I will forget about it and just buy things on impulses. But for sure, a vacatation.

Can't wait. . .

1. Get a new car

2. Get a new apartment

3. Payback school loans

Well hopefully I will already be moved back home, but I would like to use it to help with a down payment on a house!

When I am finally all said and done with my first real nursing job and paycheck...it will be for bills, groceries, gas, and hopefully alittle in savings.:D

This thread is great. It is so so so a a a a a mussssssssssssssing. It shows how differrent we all are. I do know that no matter where you come from to be in the medical field - front lines of Nursing and CNAs we are a differrent breed.

Well, first I'd like some of those fancy men's nurse shoes that have lifts. I wanna be 5'10" darn it! :p And some really nice fabric for scrubs (the really soft stuff) -- even though it will probably get puked on sooner or later haha.

Then, send some to my favorite charities and pay some bills.

I can hardly wait.
