What will YOU do with your first "real" paycheck!?

Published

as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

Hmm..with my first "real" paycheck I will...pay off some of my credit card debt, start a savings account for my son - always wanted to but never had money to put in it!, go out to a nice dinner, spoil my son with whatever he wants, and buy something for myself - whatever I feel like at the time..lol Oh yeah and pay bills of course!

I will stare at it for awhile. Cry that I will be contributing so much more (financially) to my family. Take my family out for a nice dinner and not decide based on price. Then pay bills. It will take 5-7 paychecks to get used to making $$ consistently. I am a waitress and former hairdresser. It is hit or miss all the time right now. If I make good money today, I can't expect that to happen again so I can't rejoice and spend it whimsically, as I would love to.

My first priority it to pay back my parents the $$ they are lending me for school. We will replace our cars (do you know how hard it is to get a preschooler and twin one-year-olds in the back seat of a ten year old camry!?!), but then concentrate on getting the money back to my parents who have been so generous.

I want to send my parents on a MUCH NEEDED AND DESERVED cruise and take my hubby's family on vacation (rent a house for a week near a beach or theme park) and take a day trip to Manhatten (4 hrs away cause I live Upstate) and buy myself a pair of designer shoes or a handbag. Oh Ya!!! This will be a month or two worth of paychecks of course. And then I'll start paying of my student loans and doubling my mortgage payment to get it paid off in 4 years *wine:anpom:

We've gotten used to living on next to no money, so I want to keep a similar budget until I've accomplished some of the goals on my list. I want to be debt free. Once I'm debt free, I'm going to start saving for a down payment on a house. The kids will get some things, but the goal of our own house is a big one. Once we have the house, then it's for stuff in the house - boring and mundane to some, but for us, brand new furniture/apliances/etc.

That made me laugh out loud.

This thread was created years ago. There must be some graduates here. What did you really do with your first paycheck??

payoof my bills for the month with out help from the hub for once, with what ever is left go to the hair salon and get a nice hair cut! then student loans and credit cards...im starting school again right after i graduate though so maybe i will just start to pay off my unsubsidized loans ;-)

When I finish school and get that check...I'll put half in my savings and spend the rest on myself to enjoy. LOL!!!!

Half on savings. Some into a new purse, and some into a new... puppy!!
