  1. My test is tomorrow at 2! So far 13/13 for my class and Im praying Im not the 1 person to fail it lol.... I have made it this far and I keep telling myself the chances are that I WILL pass :-) I have been preparibg for this exam for two freaking years! I Can do this!!! Good Luck!!!
  2. Well.... I still have some big plans for my first "real paycheck" which will hopefully be soon if I pass my boards at the end of the month . But I did graduate almost 3 weeks ago and I just ordered myself the cricut cake as a graduation present to myself I am soooo excited to have time to make cakes again and I needed to tell someone lol.... Thanks for listening Allnurses! You Rock!!!
  3. Got my ATT today, scheduled my test for 6/28, So that leaves me 4 weeks exactly to review. And Im totally freaking out
  4. 43 Days to Graduation and Pinning! Wow I cannot believe its almost here I thought May 2012 would NEVER come lol... Now Im kind feeling like it's gone too fast! Can't wait to have my life back and not miss out on birthdays and holidays! I have an exam Monday which means I'll be missing Easter! BUT this is the last Holiday I will miss because of Nursing School! C'mon May 18th :yeah:Oh and I guess I'll have to change my user name pretty soon eh?
  5. I start back on the 23rd and graduate on May 18th :yeah:oh my gosh I cannot believe Im a 4th semester nursing student. I didnt think the end would ever come but now Im freaking out at the thought of being a "REAL" RN... And I am gonna miss my classmates but we will be moving on to bigger and better things :redpinkhe:nurse: Good luck on your final semesters everyone!
  6. Ditto! I cant wait to read for fun again! Im hoping to take a cruise with the hubby to celebrate graduating... And I can just picture myself lounging on the deck with a good novel
  7. I have been a member of All Nurses for a couple of years now... Im in the middle of my 3rd semester at a 2 year RN program in upstate NY that is notorious for being extremely hard! There are so many posts about how hard and awful nursing school is and I just thought that some people need to hear the other side! I am not going to sit here and say it's not difficult because it really is! I am struggling with the testing this semester as the questions increase in difficulty every semester. But I am still here... Currently with a grade of 81 (78 is passing in my program). For me nursing school is a crazy mixture of stress, terror, happiness & sadness. Chances are you wont pass every exam and its not the end of the world if you fail something. We ALL have our strengths and weaknesses. I just finished my Maternity Rotation which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED!!! But I didn't do so good on the tests (Passed one but not the other). I have days where I absolutely hate going to school and days when I absolutely love it!!! All of my instructors have been amazing and I have made the BEST of friends while in this program. I think that the friendships I have formed have kept me sane through this process so far!!! I cry with them but I laugh a whole lot more!!! If I don't happen to make it through this time around I wont give up!!! Im GOING to be a nurse even if it takes me a little bit longer than anticipated . But I REALLY want (and plan to) graduate with this class "my class" in 7 months!!! So for those just starting out or those who will be soon but are feeling down, scared etc. I swear to you its not All Bad!!! Try not to take other people's experiences to heart... Learn for yourself how it really is!!! Remember its ALL about perception. You will struggle and excel in different areas than your peers. Im sorry for the rambling... But I do hope this helps to ease the minds of some people!!! And just to be clear' On most days I am really very proud and happy about being a nursing student! You earned your seat so be proud!!! And Remember... If it was easy' Then everyone would do it!!!! Good Luck and God Bless :nurse:
  8. Im starting my 2nd semester at FMCC so I won't graduate till May 2012 But I would love to know what they think about you continuing your education.... Im going to continue on for my BSN immediately and Im wondering if that will be frowned upon during the first year after graduation. So keep us posted and Good Luck!!! FYI Ive been advised that we should start applying while in our last semester so I definitely think you should start now. And congrats on being soooooo Close
  9. I want to send my parents on a MUCH NEEDED AND DESERVED cruise and take my hubby's family on vacation (rent a house for a week near a beach or theme park) and take a day trip to Manhatten (4 hrs away cause I live Upstate) and buy myself a pair of designer shoes or a handbag. Oh Ya!!! This will be a month or two worth of paychecks of course. And then I'll start paying of my student loans and doubling my mortgage payment to get it paid off in 4 years *wine:anpom:
  10. I will have 40k when I graduate in may 2012... For four years of school thats 5k a semester for an associates degree . I did not have any high school experience (dropped out in 9th) So I had to start college from scratch taking all the basics (basic math then algebra, basic Biology then my A&P's, Basic English etc.) I go to a community college which is only about 2-3k a semester but I sopped working to go to school with no distractions and we use that extra money. My hubby pays all the bills (we cut down a lot to reduce bills even sold his car -500 mo as to limit us to just one payment of 300 a month) and my left over loan money is pretty much just groceries and gas throughout each semester. FYI I get very little help in the way of grants and scholoarships and I have no kids so they say the hubby makes too much . I also plan on going right into a RN-BSN program after graduation but Im hoping my future employer will pay for my continuing education . We're going to continue living as we do now and ALL of my paychecks will go to my student loans and the Mortgage. We'll have everything payed off within 3-4 years *wine
  11. Same here! Except we have our last unit exam on WED. and then our Final on FRI. So I only have a day to study for the final YIKES! But Im super psyched that first semester is almost over and I get a much needed 5 week break *winewoo hoo its Party Time
  12. Its very very busy! :uhoh21: I have one week left of my first semester (final 12/17) and it has beed a crazy four months. So much stress but so much fun and I LOVE what I am learning. I have the best classmates EVER! My schedule is something like: 5 hours of lecture a week 2 days at clinical and 12 hours a week working on our 20+ page care plans . PLUS I spend a minimum of two hours a day reading the chapters (plus studying for the exams). Then we have to come in for our Math exams, ATI proctored exams and demonstrations (showing us how to do IV's etc.) and these things are in addition to our class & clinical "schedule". Its a lot and if you don't prioritize and get organized you'll never see your family lol. Im good at time management so I almost Always have 1-2 hours of down time to hang out with the hubby before bed (I dont work and dont have any kids). Its doable and it'll be SOOO worth it in the end :stdnrsrck: Anywho Good Luck to you and remember to make it fun!
  13. Congrats... And I feel dumb as well lol. Im only a B student (84%) so far and I had test # 5 today! I have one more exam and the final in two weeks. Most of my friends have in the 90's and they dont study as hard or as much as I do Some people just seem to get things and thats great for them Im OK with working hard for something I want. All my class mates are awesome though! Just about everyone gets along and there doesnt seem to be any competition. We all want to see each other succeed! Only two more weeks left in my first semester and I CANNOT wait for my five weeks off for winter break! Good luck at your first Nursing Job!
  14. No your not slow.... I study a few hours a day and my careplans and papers take around 12+ hours per week. Even with all the studying I do am still only getting in the 80's on exams )last one was 84 . And other students study much less than I and they wind up with 94's 96's etc. It just comes easier to some people for some reason.... Oh well I'll just keep working my butt off! Only 5 weeks left in my 1st semester! Then a whole month off woohoo:yeah:
  15. WOW! while I totally get your wanting to have a baby (I have baby fever too) I think having one during NS is INSANE! Im only in my first semester and let me tell you, I can't wait till Im an RN and I have a full time job! I'll have soooo much more time for my family then! I dont work and Im a full time student and Im easily putting in 60 hours + a week in NS. It is INTENSE... But so far Im doing well (85 avg which = B). I'd like to be getting A's though at this point I'm finally coming to appreciate my B's. Especially when I see how much others are struggling just to get a C (78 in my program). Im 23 and have been married for 4 years and I really would like to start a family, but thats gunna have to wait till I have my diploma! Good Luck in whatever you decide but from my personal experience after a couple months of NS is wait! P.S. I've been told by many that its going to get harder each semester. I have no idea how this could get any harder =/
