I'm going to call and ask next week, but do you wear scrubs on non-lab/clinical days, or just street clothes?

I wear street clothes, unless I am either coming from or going to work, then I wear scrubs.

We wear white uniforms on clinic/lab days, casual the other days. When do patient picking we either wear scrubs of our choice (not white because the staff knows when we wear white, we're on duty) or business dress.

Jupiter19, where do you go to school that you wear a white uniform? I think that's awesome.:yeah:

LOL.....I go am going to start Farmingdale State College. We have to order a specific shirt and pants (hope they are not tapered!!) from Dove Professional Uniforms. I call it a uniform because it is fancier button down collared top and thicker fabric of both pants and shirt than regular scrubs :uhoh3: :D I actually don't mind except they are alot more expensive than regular scrubs!! On days where we just have lecture you can wear normal street clothes, but my lab is 10 minutes after my lecture finishes so I just have to wear my Hunter Green scrubs to class (my least favorite color ever!!! Why can't we have the awesome purple scrubs of NYU!!)

I try to wear clothes, if I am feeling saucy I wear a bikini. :|

They specifically asked us not to wear scrubs to Skill Lab. They did not want people coming in the gear they wore to work (uck!).

If they have no specific code just be clean and neat. We had one woman who had her cleavage on display all the time -- oh dear. Another who wore Daisy Dukes with flip flops -- go figure. No one wants to see any flesh between shoulders and knees -- not at school.

Just my 2 cents.

It's only "uck" if you don't wash them after each use. Maybe they have reason to think that the students don't launder their scrubs often enough. If that's the case, they need to stress the importance of washing them after each wearing since scrubs can transfer bacteria to others, inside and outside the hospital.

I just read some the posts that came after the one above and it would not be good if students were wearing scrubs they had just worn to work. I went to school with some students who would wear their scrubs more than once before washing them, so that's what made me think along those lines in my first paragraph.

You didn't seriously think I was referring to clean scrubs being worn did you? LOL

As I said, a few of the students in my class wore their scrubs more than one time before washing them. I also work with a woman who smells terribly despite being talked to by management on more than one occassion, so one never knows what someone else's definition of hygeine may be. :D

Glad someone got it LOL

We have a very strict dress code. On campus days you can wear khakis or blue/black scrub pants (specific brand and style) and a white polo with the name embroidered. Clinical days, specific brand and style of scrub pants and white scrub top. White shoes only....

During our first semester we were aqua blue scrubs with school patch on shoulder everyday...and second semester on we wear white scrubs daily

My school will not all us to wear scrubs to class; we will be asked to go home. So to go to class, most of us wear "normal" clothes and those who have medical field jobs will come in their work scrubs.

I never had a dress code for class, and thought that this thread was a little silly. (Not really, because everyone is just curious). Anyways yesturday was my first day of Summer semester and it turns out, just my luck, that we can't wear shorts/short skirts or opened toed shoes in my Chemistry lab. I didn't have this in Bioloby but I can see their concerns. Hah, it's a little silly because we are in the Sunshine state :)
