I'm going to call and ask next week, but do you wear scrubs on non-lab/clinical days, or just street clothes?
I usually look like I rolled outta bed. Mostly because I did. Heehee. On test days I wear my "lucky test shirt" So far it has brought me great luck!!!
I should mention that my school is a hospital-based school, so they want us to look a certain way while we are walking around the hospital to and from classes.
With my first bachelor's degree at a university, I barely looked awake for early morning classes.
We wear scrubs to clinical and simulations. To classes, you can wear whatever you want. I always dress nicely because I think its respectful to my peers and professors. No sweats and hair in a messy bun for me-- ever. This is the way I dress in my every day life as well, its not like I bring the fireworks out to class.
I think they had a problem with complaints of students wearing scrubs straight from work. Instructors decided they could not tell who was wearing scrubs to work after class (which is fine) from who was coming off a shift to class in scrubs (which is not fine).
They let you do that?? We are strictly prohibited from wearing our scrubs or nursing shoes on our way to our clinical placement. You can pick up all sorts of microbes and bring them into the facility. Seems to make sense to me.
When I first started my program, the dress code for lecture days was professional dress, which included no jeans and no flip flops. However, people were too loosely interpreting the dress code, so starting last semester we are only allowed to wear scrubs. That includes clinical, lab and lecture days - only our school uniforms are permitted. I don't mind - that way I don't have to think about what to wear to school everyday :-)

With all the visitors coming in and out of the hospital (along with all kinds of other folks) do you really think putting scrubs on at home and going to clinicals is going to make a difference?
The areas in the hospital that need to be kept "more clean" at my hospital, have their own scrubs provided for employees and students from the facility. My rotation in L&D was like that, their was a locker room and fully stocked area of scrubs. OR was like that as well.
We have plenty of people that if they are leaving after class to do their patient research, they will wear their scrubs to class.
We can wear whatever we want to class, certain days like skills test outs we have to be in full clinical get up. Whenever we go to the hospital whether it be for clinicals or research we are to be in our full clinical attire.
I usually wear jeans, t-shirt and hoodie. In hot weather I wear flip flops or sandals and shorts or jeans. Pretty much always have a hoodie on because I am insecure (of my body and my gigantic boobs) so I rarely will not have some type of hoodie.
Our class rooms are a very relaxed setting.

We have to wear a white uniform for clinical days, and Hunter Green scrubs for lab days.
