Anyone else never given a bath?
Yep, after my mom had surgery she was a little wobble and concerned with walking and the nurse told her that if she walking a little bit down the hall, she would get a back rub when they got back. My mom appreciated it b/c sitting all day in those hospital beds killed her back. Me

Anyone else never given a bath?
I have that concern too. I want to them as clean as possible and don't know yet how in depth we are supposed to go. Also if were me on the on other side then I would feel some embarassment at having someone perform. I just don't want to cause any of my patients ot feel uncomfortable or embarassed by what I have to do for them. I'll find out how it goes soon enough!! Me

All electronics banned?
Luckily my Prof. just let me know that we can use both laptops and voice recorders in class so I am happy about that. I don't use my laptop in class for anything else other than note taking. I have facebook account, but the thought has never crossed my mind to check it in class, nor would I be tempted to. When I first went to school years ago it was when computers were just starting to come out and where used for nothing more than word processing. There was no such thing as powerpoint, everything was done on overhead projectors. Now going back to school I would be foolish (b/c I like stuff) not to take advantage of the technology that's out there which I know has helped me to do better in school. If some students (older or younger) feel that they were able to do well with a pen and paper and prefer that, that's fine too. Hey, if some of us didn't embrace new technology, we wouldn't even be on the boards typing these posts. Ok, done rambling on for today. Me P.S.- In HS, if anyone remembers that popping sound that those snapple caps made?? That would annoy me to no end. Maybe I am just weird about certain sounds?

All electronics banned?
Sitting in thru a class lecture (where at least for me you except some degree of quiet) is much different than being in the work place. Just because I prefer a quieter learning environment doesn't mean I am not capable of focusing in noise. In my job you have to be able to do 100 things at once, and it there is more noise and distractions than in hospital/nurse station's that I've seen. Even to be taught by another RN in the workplace I would not expect all distractions to disappear for me to learn and I can focus just as well with them. I can focus just as well in either environment, I just prefer the classroom to be quieter. Me

All electronics banned?
LOL, I am always stuck in a small classroom where someone clicks his pen non stop thru lecture or taps it against the desk. The clicking noise is twice as loud as the sound my keyboard makes. No one ever comments on his clicking, but it drives me up the wall. Same with the little rollerballs for scrolling on cell phones, and the side talking. My laptop is the quietest of the noise distractions in the classroom (approx 30 people fits in these rooms) :) Me

Phillips Beth Israel Applicants
Just an FYI, check with your school if they will accept a CPR course from anywhere other than the American Heart Association. I am going to a NS on LI and I found out at orientation that the Red Cross CPR course I had just taken could not be used. I was told that (according to the school) that the hospitals required the course from the American Heart Association and that I had to retake the course. Just a heads up. Me

Awesome amazon.com deal for students - FREE Prime!
Thanks for the reply. I got it to work. It wouldn't go thru when I put freshman, but when I put sophmore it worked. I'm a transfer student anyway.

Are there any acceptable absences?
Maybe a little OT but if you are sick (flu, hacking cough etc.) Do they want you to show up for clinical's? I would have no problem doing so, but wonder about the risk of getting other patients sick.

Number of classes?
I am not sure why some people make that big a deal about taking more than 2 sciences at once. I took 3 sciences (with labs) and a regular class and I thought it was fine. The labs were more time consuming in and out of class, but it wasn't "harder". It is great that you have such a supportive husband. I think some of the comments about your child are unfair. You will still see your child and spend time with your child, maybe not all day long, but its not as if you aren't going to see him/her for the whole semester. Best of luck to you. Me P.S.- I know you are only taking 2 sciences, but this is directed at some of the posts that say not to take more than 2 sciences at once.
