Actually, the secretary and his husband have 2 infants, 9 month old twins. Yes, he did take parental leave, several months ago. Are you saying that he is performing less adequately than Secretary Chao? Not setting up enough sweet deals for relatives?

He doesn’t setup sweet deals for anyone because he never does anything period.

"Youse guys"

Bwahahaha

Is that a Jersey thing or a Philly thing; youse?

I always thought it was Brooklyn since that was where I lived but the Urban Dictionary describes it as an expression that spreads from Chicag0, Philly, NYC and Boston.

Speaking of doing nothing:

”Chao is likely to be remembered for her lack of action to protect travelers and staff during the coronavirus pandemic. The Department of Transportation failed to heed calls by airlines, unions and even public health officials for mandatory mask rules onboard planes, trains and other interstate transportation.

Yep. Southie = South Boston. One of the ethnic urban neighborhoods in Boston. Pretty much working class Irish Catholic, famous for breeding Whitey Bulger and the bussing protests back in the sixties.

Most old cities have similar neighborhoods. They are kind of a social tree ring, reflecting the immigration patterns at that particular place.

As Donald J. Trump weighs whether to open an unusually early White House campaign, a New York Times/Siena College poll shows that his post-presidential quest to consolidate his support within the Republican Party has instead left him weakened, with nearly half the party’s primary voters seeking someone different for president in 2024 and a significant number vowing to abandon him if he wins the nomination.

I feel like it's time for "new blood" in both parties, at all levels. Otherwise, it's going to continue to be the same ol' song and dance. Someone younger, with energy, may be able to do what's needed to unite this country. Trump is beyond polarizing, Biden has issues starting to come out, and his mental status is questionable at times. We have so many over 75 y/o in Congress, both houses and parties, that are very out of touch with the reality that most of us live everyday. Others are just beyond incompetent. I'm not sure how they managed to get elected, and in many cases, re-elected. I think our political system needs a big shake up all around, and glut the system. We the people deserve so much better

It would be a wonderful improvement for Republicans to stop elevating loud liars and conmen rather than thoughtful legislators.  It doesn't seem so yet, the GOP talking points are still very Trumpian.

Did Trump shake up the system adequately that the grifters and charlatans are easier to identify?

TMB, I agree with you about Trump and loud liars, but we have to acknowledge that they exists on both sides of the aisle. To fix this mess that is called American politics will take the realization that weasles of all political affiliations, congressional chambers, sexes, religions, and (add any other identifier), exist. Both parties and chambers created this mess. I fear none of them have the know how or gumption to clean it up. It's too lucrative to do so, and most of them have it pretty swanky...
