Okay, I'll start! I'm in a Psych NP program, so realistically this goal wasn't going to happen this year, but I was definitely going to do it after the NP program ends next year: I'm going to take an in-person Italian language course. Either at a community college or Houston's Italian cultural center.
I've been doing the Italian Duolingo course for about 4 months and have grown more and more infatuated with this charming language. It feels like a logic puzzle to me! So I told myself, "In a year, when I'm done with the Duolingo course, I'll reward myself and take an in-person classroom course to build on what I've self-studied!"
How about you folks? What's some stuff you want to do that you can't do now?
So many things!
I plan on taking piano lessons (I took piano lessons when I was younger) and learn Chopin’s Ballad No. 1, Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata and the last movement of Beethoven‘s Moonlight Sonata, along with many other beautiful piano pieces by the masters. I want to play for the residents at the facility where I work, and I would love to compete in a few amateur piano competitions.

Piano lessons would be so nice! My mom made me take piano lessons in middle school. I hated practicing, and ended up quitting. Maybe if I had learned the chords instead of focusing on 'reading sheet', and played contemporary pop music instead of classical, I'd have stuck with it after all these years.

Mom and Dad made me take piano and flute lessons from elementary school to high school, and I was originally going to be a music education major with an emphasis in flute and piano. I discovered that I had absolutely NO aptitude towards teaching (a bunch of middle school girls cured me of that insanity...) and the university that I attended got rid of the football team, decided that they didn’t need the marching band, and I lost my scholarship. So... I joined the US Army and played flute and piccolo for the US Army Bands for 12 years... got out,got married, had kids, had (HAVE) lots of cats, sold the flute, piccolo and piano, and went into nursing. Twenty years later, I bought another flute and piano. The love for the flute HAS NOT returned, but the love for the piano has. I hope that I will feel good enough about my technique that I‘ll be able to play for the residents at the facility where I work... it’s amazing how much my technique slipped over twenty years! In retrospect, I wish that I had stuck with it (maybe not so much the flute...). There are some awesome keyboards out there if you’re interested in giving it another try...

Without a doubt, I can’t wait to safely travel the world again. My husband and I traveled everything other weekend, whether it was a small road trip or a flight across the country, and traveled internationally 3-4 times a year. Now being stuck in Texas of all places, I’m very much looking forward to getting back to that normal once it’s safe for everyone.
