What specialty do you want and not want to work in?

I saw this thread started on another thread for people that are already nurses and I figured it'd be fun to just do it for student nurses as well.

What specialy do I want to work in? I really wanna do either Pediatric or Mother Baby/L&D.

What specialty would I never want to work in? I think LTC, it just isn't for me.

I'm a pre-nursing student, but I really want to do L&D. Peds might be okay too. Heck, geriatrics might be okay too, I like old people, they're awesome for history lessons and to learn from. But, my very first choice would be L&D.

I don't think I'd want to work in the ER.

I think I would like to do ER, Trauma or Critical Care, especially cardiac.

I don't think LTC would be a very good fit for me.

I'm have only just applied, still waiting on acceptance - so you never know, something in NS may totally grab my attention that I never expected.

Well, I would absolutely LOVE M/S, ED, Trauma, or Adult Critical Care. I wouldn't mind PEDS in any of those areas. I love the fast pace and all the learning. I work in OB now ( nurse tech) and it is soooooooo slow. Don't get me wrong I could def retire off of an OB unit, but being in my early twenties and right out of school I need something faster.

I would not go to LTC/ psych. I don't want to start my career off with any babies on the job (L&D, PP, NICU). I know everyone loves OB, but that's just not my cup of tea.

ED, Trauma, Trauma Hawk...never ever LTC or the "babies" (they scare the poop out of me)

I have no desire in any bone in my body to work OB or peds.

want: OB/Maternity/L&D (I have my preceptorship in this this spring-400 hours, and they are hiring because they are expanding, so the pressure is on to do well)

dont want: psych, LTC

Don't want - Peds, OB, L&D, ER, LTC. I've never been to any of the above (except LTC) yet, but I know I don't want to work there already.

Want - Critical care, Surgery, Oncology, Infectious Disease... Not really sure yet, I'm starting my second semester of school tomorrow so we'll see!

I want to work in CICU, ICU, Psych, Neuro, Cardiac, NICU, Forensic, Tramua, Flight.

I really dont want to work in Medsurg, Informatics, L&D.

But you never know this may change once I start working.

Want: NICU or L&D... maybe even ED

Don't want: Psych, Peds, Neuro, etc.
