What specialty do you want and not want to work in?

I saw this thread started on another thread for people that are already nurses and I figured it'd be fun to just do it for student nurses as well.

What specialy do I want to work in? I really wanna do either Pediatric or Mother Baby/L&D.

What specialty would I never want to work in? I think LTC, it just isn't for me.

want: Psych or L&D

maybe: ER

don't want: LTC

starting school tomorrow and hoping clinical experiences will reveal my niche. i used to think i only wanted to do psych, but after taking A&P, everything seemed so fascinating! Guess we'll see...

I want L&D with mother/baby as second choice. I would be willing to try peds, psych and med/surg, even though that's not where my passion is.

ER and ICU scare the crap out of me.

Want: NICU, Peds, Surgery, OB

Don't Want: Medsurg, LTC, or ED

I am excited to start nursing school to see if I just "click" with something..I would love NICU or Surgery..both have always really interested me

I'm not entirely sure where I *WANT* to work yet. I will wait until I go thru all my rotations to really make that distinction. I can tell you that I DON'T want to work in Peds. I have enough kid trauma in my own house. LOL!

Want: NICU, PICU, any ICU or critical care

Maybe: ER, trauma, surgery, oncology, hospice

No, thanks: LTC, psych, school or clinic nursing

Want: NICU or Psych (NP specializing in pediatric disorders), this is from my own experiences raising a preemie who has had some psych issues. He is the reason I want to be a nurse.

Do not Want: LTC or anything not related to peds.

Wow it seems like a lot of people dont want..peds or l/d

Want: Critical care, trauma,Surgery, Oncology, Infectious Disease

Dont want: Yeah u guessed it... Peds or L/d or OB

Hahah well hopefully more people will feel like you guys and I won't have a problem getting a job in OB/Mother-Baby/L&D
