What specialty do you want and not want to work in?

I saw this thread started on another thread for people that are already nurses and I figured it'd be fun to just do it for student nurses as well.

What specialy do I want to work in? I really wanna do either Pediatric or Mother Baby/L&D.

What specialty would I never want to work in? I think LTC, it just isn't for me.

I'm a midwife going to nursing school and as of *this second* don't want to do OB or mother/baby. I know the hospitals in my area and cringe at the baby factory mentality I'd be working in. I have no idea what I would want to do...

Yes to Med surg, geriatrics, pre- or post-surg, rehab.

Want more than anything: ED

If for some reason I do my ED rotation and hate it: then ICU (any) or oncology

Do Not Want: med/surg, Peds or OB. or anything with kids all of the time.

Anything else, psych, LTC, PACU, OR,etc etc, I would try to see if I was a good fit.

Well I will graduate in May and this has really been on my mind. I thought OB was all I wanted to do, but now ICU was a great rotation I now feel stronger about that

I'm open to anything that grabs me during my schooling but right now I'm really thinking i'd love L&D or NICU. I dealt w/ infertility for many years before getting pg w/ my son and then had a high risk pregnancy and so in those four or so years I did a lot of reading about the reproductive systems/pregnacy and so on and still find it interesting now.

Love to work in L&D (perferably a unit where I would only have to do L&D and not mother/baby), and I could see myself doing NICU. I have a passing interest in ER and being a dialysis nurse as well if I end up thinking L&D is not where I want to be.

I don't think i'd like med/surg or SICU/MICU

And in the "not if it was the last job on earth" category would be ped's. ;)

Want: Currently I work in a level 1 ED and wouldn't mind staying there, I have worked in PEDS and wouldn't mind going back as a RN. My first love is L&D and I would also do OR, ICU, NICU.

Never: med/surg, geri, LTC

I plan to work in psych, and also want to do part-time/PRN in possibly home health, hospice, mother/baby or lactation.

Do not want to work in ED, LTC, general med-surg.

I'd like to work in ICU or ER....preferably ICU though. Mainly because it's face paced and I don't think I'd be bored.

I would never want to work in L&D. I'm against much of Americas view on birth and the whole business of obstetrics (inducing/c-sections etc) and against circumcision and formula. So L&D wouldn't be a good fit for me and I know this. :)

I haven't even started NS, this semester is my first of five semester. But I would like: NICU, OR, PEDS, Don't think I would like: LTC, phsyc(sp?)I would LOVE to work in a children's hospital.We'll see what captures my ♥ after I start doing some clinical rotations.

Want: NICU more than anything. If I get a job there, I won't budge. Maybe even become a NNP.

Also interested in PICU, ICU, cardiac, LTAC.

Maybe: ER. Lately LTC has peaked my interest but it'd have to be a facility with a ratio of 1:20 or less.

No quiero: peds outside of PICU, Psych, OB,
