I am new to this forum and nursing school. Just wanted to know what are the best pens to purchase. Please, I need as many responses as possible so I can try them all and decide.

THANKS :)

i've never actually thought about the "best" black pens.. lol i typically use the drug company pens because they just give them away..

I'm with ramonmalino and supernurse65, the best pens are the free clicky ones from the drug reps.

I'm a huge fan of Pentel RSVP pens, but as someone mentioned they have caps which just aren't practical in a clinical setting.

Any clicky pen is best. The best really are the clicky drug rep pens. They are just so fancy.

I ditto the Uniball Jetstream! First pen I've ever found I would buy again.

G2! I have no idea who makes them...guess I should work on my observation skills, huh?:p Whoever it is, they also make the best blue, purple, green, and red pens, too, lol.

I always use a Pilot G-1 grip 0.7, great pen if you are writing for hours.I even get the local stationers to order it for me as I go through heaps of them in a year.

I like PaperMate Profiler. They come in a pack of 2 and they're cheap. My favorite been ever was this free pen I got from a Viagra booth at a health fair. lol I was sad when it died.

Did you get the one that you click and the pen goes up?

Seriously. There was apparently a pen that was folded in half and you hit a button and it unfolded and raised up!

I'm starting nursing school this August and I know there's a lot of note taking ahead of me :)

I was wondering what kind of pens (that are at least medium point) are good for someone who really presses hard on their pen? I know that's worded weird. I don't like cheap pens because I press down too hard on them to get the ink out and they hurt my hands within minutes. I like ones that write VERY easily like gel pens... or any kind that write easily. Any suggestions?

I totally know what you mean - I have the same problem! I'm happy to report that the Pilot G2 gel ink rolling ball pens are terrific for people like us. The are about 5-6 bucks for a 3 pack, but you can get refills for them. I have a 4 hour lecture class (gaaaaak!) and I can take notes the entire time with minimum hand cramping. I always keep 2 or 3 in my bag.

Thanks for the post squee-gee! I was wondering about how long these pens last before refilling? I LOVE gel pens, but they never last long for me :(

i personally like these cool hospice pens we get. they are fat and the ink is really dark. we also get good mortuary pens.. i work in a hospital and we get alot of free cool pens. the problem is .. everyone snatches them up and you have to grab for them. the best things in life are free..lol :uhoh3:
