  1. i work 7pm-7am.. but there are also 8 hour shift people that come in at 11... the hospital is saying we (the 12 hr shift people) if it is our turn to float should give up the patients we had for 4 hours to float to another floor.. so i am looking for a study to help support us with why mid-shift floating is unacceptable.
  2. does anyone know of a study that shows that mid-shift floating decreases patient safety.. our hospital is trying to enforce mid-shift floating now which i find rediculous. Thanks in advance!
  3. I have my preceptorship night shift..but i bring a lean cuisine for like 3am to keep me going..
  4. thanks, yeah i left a post on the informatics forum but got no response:uhoh21:
  5. I have to come up with a case study related to nursing informatics and I was wondering if anyone had an ideas about how to go about doing that.. :typing Thanks in advance!! :bowingpur
  6. GOODLUCK!!!!! I take mine on the 19th.. :clpty:
  7. This happened to me the other day and reinforced why I am becoming a nurse: Me: (As I walk into the patients room) How are you doing?? Anything I can get for you?? Patient: Steph, I want to thank you for always asking how I am and if I need anything as you walk by my room, you are the only person who really checks on me and makes sure I am happy. I just want to say you are going to make a wonderful nurse and I wish there were more nurses as caring as you have been. Another reason why I truly enjoy my job.. Patient's appreciation is everything!!! :tku:
  8. I wear dankso...right now i have white because i'm in school but for graduation (may:balloons: ) I am def getting a black pair!!!
  9. Unfortunately, I just found out yesterday baystate is not hiring any new grads (may 08) into the NICU because they are fully staffed and there are no plans of anyone leaving
  10. I was wondering. I am going to an open house at a hospital I am interested in applying to for a NICU position, and they said to bring a copy of my resume, does that have to include a cover letter? My school has never taught us anything about writing resumes so I am only going from what I have learned on here. Thanks =)

  12. I am a student graduating in May =) My new year's resolution is to ace the NICU interview i will have coming up.
  13. I am very nervous because the only NICU in my area hires 1 or 2 new grads a year and I will be applying next week (as a new grad). I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of how I can stand out among the other applicants. So far, I have 3 nursing instructor references and 3 personal references from nurses I work with. I know the NICU is where I want to be and I'm praying that I can get this job (any shift, doesn't matter, the NICU is where my :heartbeat is). What types of questions should I be prepared to answer and what could I say to really stand out. Thanks in advance!!
  14. I am graduating in May and plan on applying to the only NICU in my area this coming month. I have no previous experience in the NICU because unfortunately we have no clinical rotations there and they do not allow us to do our senior preceptorship in a NICU. I have always known in my heart this is what I wanted to do however I can't pin down exactly why I want to, I know I love babies and I look forward to caring for critically ill babies and supporting their families through it. Lately, I have been thinking about how to word why I want to work there but I just can't seem to pin it down to a couple sentences.
  15. i was taught 2ml
