  1. Ok, so right now my mother is saying to do nursing and half of me wants to be a nurse. But the other half is not so sure, so i've decided that I will do the CNA program early next year. Then save my money and go to a LVN program. And if I like what i'm doing then I might continue on with my education. Does this seem like a good plan? I am not sure if I want to be a nurse but I should atleast try it out right. I love nurses but I don't know if I should be one.
  2. I was curious as to know what travel nurses do? Do they go around and work in other hospitals or peoples homes? I am really clueless so if I have it wrong please tell me.
  3. I keep losing my confidence and I keep thinking i'm not good enough for nursing. I also keep wondering if nursing is what I want to do. How do you know being a nurse is for you?
  4. Ok, I have come to my senses and decided to be a nurse. But now I am thinking about the where to go to school. I will be moving to Ohio probably by next year but I need to know that the schools there are good quality. I you know some really good schools let me know so I can research them and decide. THANKS!
  5. She has been considering a job change, so I suggested nursing as is the field I am going into. But she is afraid that her 20yr old felony conviction will keep her from getting her license. Does anyone have any info on this subject? Or anything that she would need to do? Thanks! :typing
  6. Hi, I hope you don't mind me butting in. DON'T DO THE MA PROGRAM! I went into this program late of last year, The knowledge of injections, patient confidentiality, and blood draws is invaluble. But this schools is costing me 6,000 for something I know I'm not going to get a job in. So now I think I am going to go for CNA because the pay is decent and they offer flexiblity. Don't get me wrong i'm pretty sure there are MA's out there that love there job, its not for me. The MA program though was a good confidence builder for the future. You see alot of gross pictures, learn about some pretty interesting dieases, and you become confortable with patient interaction. But if I had to do all over again I would never had gone to this school!
  7. When you finished the program were you excited? Did you wish you had went straight to rn or were you happy with lvn? Was it a great learning step or was it a step you could have skipped? What did you go through when you first started working as a lvn?
  8. I go to Maric college in my town and next year they are starting a LVN program for the first time. Right now I am graduating from there medical assistant program and thought it would help me and so far it has. So my question is should I now go the LVN route and then after move out of my mother's home, get out on my own and plan my next move which is RN or BSN? I know this a personal choice but if you were in my situation what would you do?
  9. I want to be a nurse, I have the drive and personality for it. But as of now my math is horrible. I don't even know all of my times tables, and I know your going to say take some math classes and I'll be fine. But I have never been able to understand math. I am scared of getting into nursing and faced with a drug calculation, I'll make a mistake and hurt someone. Sometimes I think I have a handicap as far as math is concerned. Did any of you ever feel this way?
  10. Nurses have always been dipicted as sexy women coming into a patients rooms to give them a sponge bath Or wearing tight-fitting outfits, and high heels. Do you feel nursing is sexy? When you tell others that you are a nurse, do they think its hot? And do you feel a man being a nurse is as sexy as a woman who is a nurse? Are nurses sex icons of the past, present, and future?
  11. I've done some light research and found some interestings things being said about nursing. Some say they hate there job and wish they had went a different route. Others say its the best thing that ever happen to them. Some say there is a shortage, while others say there is none. How do you feel as a nurse? Are you tired of your job and have had enough? Or are you in love with nursing and can't possibly see yourself doing anything else? Is nursing friend or foe?
  12. I'm considering moving to florida from california. And I wanted to know what city would be best for nursing school? Also what city is the most affordable? I'm a medical assistant now and I want to further my education, where and what would you suggest.
  13. I wanted to know about some good schools in Minneapolis? Also how is Minnesota? I want to move from California to Minneapolis, and I just needed some info. Is the weather as harsh as people say it is? Are the people really nice? Are the summers nice? Is the lots to see and do for a young person? Are lots of single men? Is Minneapolis/St. Paul a good place to live? What should I do before and after I move to prepare myself? Is it a diverse place? And anything else you can think of that would help. :bowingpur
  14. I had a dream this morning and it was quite weird from my normal dreams, anyways i'll just tell you about it. In my dream I meet a women, she is a white, quiite older woman, wearing all white scrubs, who is a LVN. She brings me to a hospital where she works, takes me in a waiting room by the NICU. We sit down and she starts tellling me to become a nurse and where I should go if I can't find a job. A few minutes in the power fails, even the backup generator fails, the whole hospital is dark. People start shouting and there is no other nurses around. She then gets up and sees a baby that needs feeding and his breathing is begining to fail. She runs in, I run after her, she starts trying to breastfeed the baby, she exhausted herself and was on one knee. Then I step in and start giving mouth to mouth to the child. After a few more minutes the power comes back on, things start to return back to normal. I then thank her for bringing me and tell her that I will be a nurse. I also tell her that she is the best nurse I have ever met. The dream ends, what does it all mean? When I thought about it, I wondered if it was god clarion call for me to be a nurse, since I have been debating about the issue? or was it nothing but a weird dream with a crazy nurse?
