Washing those scrubs?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

How often do you wash your scrubs? And when is the last time you bought a pair of new ones? Come on in fellas, I know you can hear me.

when i use to wear scrubs on a daily basis, i kept 5 scrubs ready at all times this way i didn't had to worry about washing one every time, unless it was "gross" and i would place it in a bag and when i got home i would put it in the garage sink and let in soak for awhile. needless to say, i never wore my scrubs twice in a row

Straight in the washer after every shift with hot water and bleach, kept separate.

Have 3 sets, all bought at the thrift shop. I am NOT spending money to get blood, sweat and tears on my scrubs.

I wash after each wear. I cannot resist cute scrubs, I own lots!!

Same here, but I don't have to wash right away in order to wear them again. I just graduated as an ADN, and got a new job at a Children's Hosp, needed to update my uniforms. Been an LPN for 11 years, some scrubs I've had forever.

Jeez, I washed my work uniform after each wear when I was WAITING TABLES, because of the extreme gross factor (handling half eaten food and drink that made contact with people's mouthes, silverwear, raw food). I can't even imagine washing scrubs less than every time you wear them, blegh!

are you saying you wear your scrubs a second time without washing them? because that's just plain disgusting!

that's what i thought at first, but then i figured that they probably meant that they had enough different scrubs that they didn't need to wash *that particular set* that same day in order to have clean scrubs to wear to work the next day.

as in, they didn't wash them the second they got home (immediately after each wearing) but they did wash them (when enough had accumulated to make a whole load) before they were worn again.

at least that's the way i'm believing it in my head, because to think otherwise is just too nasty to think about!

After every shift!!!!!

hard to believe there are 18 (now 19) posts on this thread when the only answer is so obvious. guess it's good we can all agree on something!

I'm jealous of those who get to choose what scrubs they wear. Where I work all the different professions have to wear their designated color. We have to buy them from the hospital because they get their logo stitched on. No pedi scrubs, no fun colors or styles. I always make sure to wear awesome socks because it's the only way I can express myself

My flat-mate is a nurse as well so we wash ours together. Who ever is in need of them will run them through the wash. Best if we get there before our fire fighter flat-mate as his clothes stink the machine up

you just wait until we get to the 5th page or something. the thread will take some off the wall turn and there will be fireworks. :lol2:

I am not a nurse yet but my mother was. She used to have a special hamper in the hall closet right next to the back door that no one used. As soon as she walked through the door after every shift, she didn't dare walk in the house with her scrubs on but strip down to her underwear and throw them in a hamper in that closet and then immediately hit the shower. Let one of us try to touch her before she stripped:eek:.... ohh man not good. No one was to touch that specific hamper but her and them bad boys went through every single wash cycle available on our washer. She didn't play.
