Violence has erupted in Washington DC as Trump supporters storm the US Capitol Building, with reports of a woman being shot on the Capitol grounds...
... ABC News has reported shots fired inside the building and CNN reports a woman is in critical condition after being shot in the chest on the Capitol grounds. Virginia is sending the National Guard and 200 state troopers to Washington DC at the mayor's request, Reuters reports.
Earlier, Congress members were forced to leave the building, leaving gas masks on their desks, as the Capitol went into lockdown in response to the invasion...
"Emotions are high now, but tempers must be cooled and calm restored," the president continued. "We must get on with the business of America. My campaign rigorously pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results. My only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote."
"My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition," Trump said, acknowledging that "a new administration" would be inaugurated Jan. 20. "This moment now calls for healing and reconciliation."
I am awaiting for the autopsy report on the dead woman. It will be another layer of the story to find out who has to own up to the bullet. And I'm also concerned all/some/any of the capital police were complicit. I don't for a minute think that anyone went there with the thought that this was going to be a peaceful protest. It was much more of drunken brawl by people who have nothing better to do.
I said it in a post somewhere on these forums that this protest was not going to end well. Of course I didn't predict this, I thought it would be the usual protestors vs. counter protesters.
There was a guy interviewed on the scene that made a statement that some of the police were on their side.

What gets Me is his supporters. I love to give people second chances but I have become so hardened to Trump supporters that I practically see them as alien.
How do you possibly see anything good in Trump's behaviors past or present that allows you override common sense? There are many beautiful snakes, that doesn't mean they don't scare the living daylights out of me.
And that's what I find scary about Trump's supporters! Given the opportunity Trump would readily embrace a Hitler or Stalin's approach and not essentially because he's bad, but because he's so stupid! He wouldn't be able to weigh up the consequences or implications. Then, you have his supporters who are even more unlikely to understand the import of the man's potential for destruction and therein lies my repulsion!
Their potential for utter madness without ever being able to understand any of the ramifications, interlectually, emotionally or humanly!

It's simply ridiculous that republicans are suggesting that this shouldn't be punished in the most severe way. National security was threatened at the command of Trump. Sycophant senators bolstered Trump's lies on the floor of the Senate. Security was hampered.
In the months leading up to Wednesday's deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Trump administration gutted a key federal agency responsible for funneling intelligence and threat assessments to law enforcement partners across the country, two federal officials with direct knowledge told ABC News.
One of the officials said that by Monday night, for example, Department of Homeland Security intelligence leaders had received field reports detailing that people known to law enforcement were heading to the Capitol, and that they were heading there in many cases with weapons and ropes.
"Several officials were aware of this intelligence and also assessed violence was likely," said one official.
However, "no specific plans were put in place ahead of time as it would have been done in the past," he said.
Had the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis been operating at full capacity over the previous months, the officials said, U.S. Capitol Police would have had a clearer picture of the "specific and credible" threats of violence posed by groups planning to attend Wednesday's rally.

Pence had his whole family at his Capital office; rioters were screaming "Hang Pence"and a guillotine had been erected across from the Capital --fact that Trump never called him on Wednesday to inquire about his safety speaks volumes. I wonder if his children and the complicit congressmen and senators actually know how history is going to view them and whether they care even if they are aware?
They obviously don't appear to care about their current portraits but even if they are unaware, how many people or even friends surrounding them are so ignorant or uncaring to not have discussions about their actions?
