Hello! I'm posting here to get any feedback from previous UWSoN students or current prenursing students who are applying for the 2019 cohort. A little bit about me is that I'm currently a student at OC in Washington, my prereq GPA for UW's required classes is about a 3.81 and my cumulative GPA is a 3.7. I have been working as a CNA/Medication assistant for almost half a year and will be continuing working until I move to Seattle for school. Any advice is greatly appreciated on housing, how to study for the proctored essay, and any way to better my chances! Thank you!
I like the registerednursern.com site for practice questions. They have a practice quiz that has been helpful. I really hope that the proctored essay uses numbers that give us whole numbers for the answers, not decimals. I won't survive without a calculator if we have to divide decimals, multiplying I can do (takes forever), but there just isn't enough time to divide decimals lol.
Hello, everyone!
I just found this thread after getting my invite to the proctored essay yesterday! I've found all of your responses extremely helpful and informative, and appreciate everyones updates.
My name is Madeline and I have been working full time as a medical assistant for about 4 years now. I have worked at a primary care with providers specializing in gynecology and currently work at an urgent care for Valley Medical Center. I really enjoy the faster-paced environtment of urgent care, as well as the fun procedures I get to take part in daily! I have finished all of my pre-requisites, but I am lucky to learn from hands on experience every day at my job. I work with amazing MDs, DOs, PAs and ARNPs, who all have been extremely supportive of me continuing my education. I plan to complete a BSN degree and continue on to become an ARNP.
Good luck to everyone! I am so happy to see all the support everyone has been giving each other on this thread. GO DAWGS!
Oh my gosh! MADELINE! Another medical assistant at long last!! You must have a tonnnn of experience. I just graduated last August and have been working at a low income family practice community clinic since September 4th. Urgent care sounds awesome!
Now back to working on my UW transfer statement ? is everyone else done with theirs? Deadlines the 19th!
Congratulations to the many invited to the proctored essay. I appreciate how supportive this group is and how willing everyone has been to share the resources they've found helpful. After seeing how caring each of you are, I would feel so lucky if we were all invited into the program together. Best of luck everyone! Let's rock this on Wednesday!
Long division, my old enemy....I always knew 4th grade would come back to haunt me. Thanks Adrian for confirming. I hope you know how much we appreciate your updates!
Also to everyone who's been messaging me about my genius "8mg" response to the practice questions...I WAS WRONG. It is 8 milliliters. I did it in like 30 seconds and didn't look back. R.I.P
^^UDUB, I agree with you! We can do this! We're fewer than 80 on this thread, no reason we shouldn't all get in. XD

Thank you so much ackermc3 for sharing this info with the group. Every little bit helps.
Who has applied to other schools? I also applied to SU and SPU but received my "thanks but no thanks" letter this week. I'm feeling a bit discouraged, but UW has always been my priority, anyway. I'm feeling a bit nervous for the proctored essay, but everyone has been so helpful with sharing information and resources, I feel good about the material I've been practicing. April seems so far away! I hope it goes by quickly for everyone so the anxiety levels aren't so high!
@Bella2021 I took the proctored essay last year and there was a percentage question on it. totally threw me off since I did not practice that at all. So it is a possibility that it could show up again this year. I also got invited to take the proctored essay this year.

I received my essay invite as well. Congrats to all! I have also applied to and been invited to interview at SU and SPU! These next two weeks are going to be busy, and waiting for March/April for admission decisions will be excruciating! Good luck everyone! for anyone who applied and didn't receive any form of email Adrian said to contact the admissions office as you should have received something even if it wasn't an invite to the essay.
I have not introduced myself yet, I'm Krystal. I currently work as a CNA at Swedish where I've been for almost 3 years on Med/oncology unit. I've had my license since 2004 and worked in all settings, I've also worked as a mental health tech at Fairfax Hospital. I have a BS in Psychology and a Certificate in Addiction studies. Now going for my BSN and then hope to continue on to ARNP.
