UW Transfer BSN 2019

Published

Hello! I'm posting here to get any feedback from previous UWSoN students or current prenursing students who are applying for the 2019 cohort. A little bit about me is that I'm currently a student at OC in Washington, my prereq GPA for UW's required classes is about a 3.81 and my cumulative GPA is a 3.7. I have been working as a CNA/Medication assistant for almost half a year and will be continuing working until I move to Seattle for school. Any advice is greatly appreciated on housing, how to study for the proctored essay, and any way to better my chances! Thank you!

Hello everyone! I, too, got my invite to the proctored essay! For those asking about the percentage problem, I took the proctored essay last year and there was definitely a percentage problem. I will be practicing percent problems just in case it makes its way back on the essay again... it totally threw me off last year! Good luck to everyone!

Another question! Does anyone know if all applicants that they are considering have to go through the essay process? Or are some immediately accepted?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here, but I’ve been reading a ton of stuff from the 2014, 2015, and 2016 BSN threads. It’s my first time applying to the UW SoN, and I got invited to the proctored essay.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what to write about on the essay? I have some strengths and weaknesses listed that I’m going to memorize, but I’m nervous about how I’m going to tie it all together.

I think I read on a thread from a few years ago that it’s rare that they would immediately accept a candidate ?

Will they stick to the metric system or have us convert between systems? Does anyone have an idea?

Thats a good question, @akermc3. I have also been wondering if we're going to have to convert pounds to kilograms! 2.2lbs=1Kg and that decimal is going to throw me off!

percentage problem

What kind of percentage problem? Do you mean "What is 38% of 400mg?" or " If 23 is 55% of a given number, what is that number?"

If anyone could clarify further on the percentages business, that would be SOO helpful.

Hi everyone!

I’m just joining this thread today. Good to see all of this helpful information on here, I’m just so grateful I was invited to the proctored essay! I’ve been a CNA for 6 years and have been at Seattle Children’s for the past 4 years. I’ve been practicing conversions this weekend. I as well am wondering what percentage problems they will be asking if any? Good luck to everyone this Wednesday, we are going to do amazing!

I just realized acraig posted a word problem example a page back. Sheesh, that sounds a little complicated, especially factoring in that BP is a ratio of systolic to diastolic! So comparing the percentage difference between two BPs....*goes cross eyed*

It would be great if this was all overpreparation but I have a feeling it won't be lol

Wow can’t believe I just found this forum! The proctored essay doc was a big help, thanks to whoever posted it! The practice math problems were fairly straightforward and I hope thats about the caliber we see on the math portion. A girl I worked with did the ABSN proctored essay 2 years ago and said the conversions are basic so let’s hope she’s right! Good luck to all of you today and let’s discuss how relieved and also stressed we are after it’s all said and done!

TODAY'S THE DAYYYYYYYYYYY!! Ohman, I too hope those sample problems are as complicated as it's going to get. May the odds be ever in our favor! If anyone's looking for me I'll be wearing a white headscarf and a strained smile?

Yeah I’m ready to just get it done! I’m sitting here playing around on dosagehelp.com and some parts have me feeling good and other parts of it have me feeling nervous ?. I’ve made it this far and feel pretty good about my ability to perform under pressure so I’m just gonna have to trust myself!
