    UW Transfer BSN 2019

Anjee, same here! My birthday is the 21st, so I will either have a sad sad birthday or bring my family honor.... I'm hoping it's the latter lol

No, I'm just going by last year where decisions were emailed out the 16th. And arguably they needed more time last year to make decisions than this year, since they were accepting even fewer applicants . Could be wrong though

Cheese Louise! I can't believe you had to deal with all that. Kudos for getting into Seattle U in the face of major hurdles !! Nursing here in Washington is definitely not easy, but what I tell myself is that if this is the career path you want, you've got to go get it. Two or three years after graduating, you'll barely remember all the hoops you had to jump through to get into nursing school anyway....you'll be too busy being an awesome nurse!! This might sound weird, but one thing that's especially nagging me about possible rejection is my letter of recommendation. It's an *airtight* letter- my recommender was extremely specific and well-worded in her commentary and examples, and I don't see how I could possibly get a better one if I re applied. I definitely couldn't ask her again (too embarassing!) Oh well, at least I know if I get rejected it won't be from that letter!

To be honest, I never even thought about separate admissions fees for UW and SON. I had no idea it was $310!!!! Do you think that's the same as the orientation fee? I have heard that just attending orientation is also upwards of a couple hundred bucks. Anjee, I'm in the same boat. I've struggled to come to terms with what I'd do if I get rejected ( it's so unpleasant to think about) but the bottom line is that I would apply again. I would definitely prioritize pursuing more diverse experiences- volunteer with different populations, possibly get a job at an urgent care or ER (the closer to hospital environment and nurses, the better) aggressively build up my resume. Plus complete all my prereqs, since I had only 4 natural world completed for this round. It may help to know that Adrian posted a while back that they will be doing app review again this year. SON actually did not allow applicants this resource last time (it was a super funky year). So in the scenario of rejection , you can meet directly with Adrian and hear exactly what needs to change in your app, why the committee overlooked yours for someone else's. I think this is an extremely valuable resource. I have never read about someone on this forum who attended+ got tips from app review, and then didn't get in next round.

Oh wow bluepurplegreen, that's wonderful!! Even if SPU is not your most preferred option, it's such a boost of morale to get an acceptance letter! Congrats! Uh oh @orange_T... Now something else to worry about! haha. Only four weeks left now..

I have a friend who took Jim, he has a reputation for being seriously hardcore (like in a good way). You must really know your stuff! I just gave notice to the hospital I'm at that I'll be leaving my volunteer shift at PACU. Hopefully I don't regret it....Whenever I get too worried about the app, I try to imagine wearing purple scrubs lol. Or sitting at orientation with you guys in the fall, meeting everyone in person. Positive thoughts! By the way, any recommendations for where to renew BLS certification? I need to do that, mine just expired..

@Eddie.T Nope,I haven't applied anywhere else. Since I haven't finished all my prereqs yet, I'm still ineligible to apply for many schools this round...but if there's a next round, I will be eying at least Seattle U. I've heard such wonderful things about their program. Problem is, even with their $15,000 per year scholarship packages, it's so crazy expensive..I just really don't know. Have you applied to other schools? I recall @bluepurplegreen mentioning interviewing for SU, I think a couple of other people on this thread mentioned it as well. Madeline, your words reach my SOUL. I have only been an MA for 6 months and even though I am working at an extremely short-staffed, high turnover clinic (i.e I imagine that other places would be less stressful) I just feel so ready to expand my scope of practice. You have so much experience, I'm sure UW will very seriously consider you. We're all twiddling our thumbs and trying not to think about it just as much as you are, I promise! XD

Yes, I too am trying to mentally gear up as though I will have to reapply. I'm working on leaving the hospital I'm at currently to volunteer somewhere new for more varied experience...like a needle exchange program or supporting individuals with disabilities. A&P 2 is kicking my butt right now. Is anyone at BC currently planning on taking microbio next quarter?

How's everyone holding up? Just a little over a month left..in previous years they sent the notifications early but last year they took their full time, and I think probably this year as well. Seeing as how 80 spots is still 16 less than the usual 96.

Oh and by the way, what you wrote sounds so good. From the sound of it we all wrote pretty stellar essays...its just hard to know exactly what they're looking for, you know? The magic ingredient..the essay that makes the reviewer readjust their glasses and gasp "IMPRESSIVE!! we MUST accept this candidate!!" LOL

I agree with prodeuce-From what I've seen on previous threads, 1 or even 2 math problems is really not a big deal, and people who feel not so confident about their math still get in! Blue, the second problem killllled me. I had such an ominous feeling about putting down 200 but nothing else made sense. I also had to go back to it and do some head scratching on that one. Was super relieved to see I wasn't the only one... If we could all get in that would be such a blessing! 2 months will fly by you guys. Harry: "Now we wait?" Hermione: "And now we wait." XD

I agree with Smo, that is a tough subject to talk about, and in such a short period of time .. I'm sure your essay was wonderful. Good on you!

Oh good. Im so relieved. That second one seemed deceptively simple..unless we're both wrong lol! What pt did everyone pick? I picked #2. I said because the combination of stressful circumstances with neurological damage makes it a challenge to determine the cause of her headaches, and because it would be a personal challenge to not go "Hell naw you're not going back to your ex partner!!!" As a nurse my role would be to empower the pt about her health offer resources like domestic violence support group etc rechannel my energy into that , instead of voicing emotionally charged opinions yadda yadda. I also made a big to do about holistic care and how clinically i would have to use different methods like imaging medication etc to find the cause of her headaches.

YES ITS DONE!! How did you guys do? I know they said not to break it down afterwards but I still want to lol. Does anyone know how many people total got invited??? I thought they would give the number at the beginning...they didn't! I really really want to know.. What did you get for the math? I got 1.2, 200 and 16. The second question threw me. Seemed like a trick question....I just doubled the 100 mL because it's every 30 min and it's for 1 hr..right?
